It couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of guys! A report out of Iraq confirms that 16 members of the Islamic State were blown to bits after an explosive vest malfunctioned and exploded.

Iraqi News reports:

(IraqiNews.com) Kirkuk – Iraqi media outlets reported on Wednesday that a malfunction caused an explosive belt to explode and kill 16 members of the Islamic State (ISIS), including senior leaders, during their meeting in Hawija, southwest of Kirkuk.

Alsumaria stated, “Today, an explosion took place amid a meeting of ISIS members in al-Mahawes village in Hawija district (55 km southwest of Kirkuk),” adding that, “The explosion resulted in the killing of 16 members of the Islamic State group, including senior leaders, as well as wounding of 16 others.”

“A number of the ISIS members were wearing explosive belts during the meeting, and the explosion took place due to a defect in one of them,” Sumaria explained. “The meeting was held to prepare for an attack on the positions of the security forces in Hamrin Mountains, al-Zawiya area and Ajil area in Salahuddin Province,” Sumaria added.

This is not uncommon.

In September, a Syrian jihadi blew himself and several others up while being videoed when he reached for a cell phone detonator and snapped a selfie.

In February of 2014, an Islamic suicide bomb trainer blew himself and his “students” up, killing 22 in total.

While I am against arming, funding and training these people, things like this do give me pause as to why instead of doing all that we didn’t just provide them with faulty equipment in the first place and just let them destroy themselves. Then we would not be worrying about what we are facing now.

If these stories are not hilarious enough, take a look at this video montage of jihadist experiencing some pretty harsh realities.
