Jay Carney: Fast and Furious investigation ‘unworthy of Congress’
By: The Examiner – June 21, 2012
White House Press Secretary Jay Carney explained today that he believed that the Congressional investigation into Operation Fast and Furious was a “fishing expedition.”
When asked by a reporter if he agreed with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s suggestion that Congress was persecuting AttorneyGeneral Eric Holder because of his efforts to investigate voter ID laws, Carney replied that he hadn’t seen the press conference.
“I think I’ve clearly suggested that this is something that has become a fishing expedition that’s unnecessary and unworthy of Congress at this time, when they could be acting on things that the American people care about…” Carney said, suggesting that it was more important for Congress to work on the economy, jobs for teachers and constructionworkers.
