Just before Christmas, an armed homeowner confronted two men who had broken into his home and held a woman in the home at gunpoint. Though the gun was held to the woman’s neck, it wasn’t enough to save the intruder from a barrage of bullets from the homeowner that saved the woman and left the intruder dead.

Police identified the man shot to death as twenty-two year old Nico Carlisle.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

FOX News Memphis reports:

Investigators say Carlisle and another man knocked on the door, and then forced their way inside when a woman answered the door. Carlisle then put a gun to the woman’s neck.

The homeowner heard the commotion, grabbed a handgun, and went to investigate. He then fired multiple shots at the men, hitting Carlisle.

Neighbors making last minute Christmas preparations heard gunshots.

“I was here and I heard…seen some boys go over there next door, you know, trying to get up in their house, and I came to the door. That’s when I heard some shots,” neighbor Jerome Foster said.

“When I heard the gunshots I was like, ‘What is this?'” said Kwatara Clark, neighbor. “We all started looking out the window.”

“It’s crazy the people that are dying are not going to be able to spend Christmas with their families and I know some people hurting,” Clark added. “It’s crazy.”

“Ooh, I hope he’s okay, cause he don’t do anything to nobody,” said neighbor Bryanna McKinley. “He’s a cool person. It’s just crazy.”

“Some people’s families don’t have anything for their kids so they think they can go out and rob other folks,” McKinley said. “It’s just crazy.”

No charges were filed against the homeowner, but the second man who escaped has not been found or identified, according to reports. If you have information as to the second man’s identity and whereabouts, police are asking you to call CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH.

Interestingly enough, Carlisle had a long criminal record and had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Yet, he was in possession of a gun.

Because Carlisle was stopped and no other lives were lost, Clark said she still felt safe.

Once again, the problem is never with law abiding gun owners. They are the ones stopping the criminals who have guns. No gun law prevented Carlisle from holding his weapon to the neck of the female homeowner, just like no law kept him and his accomplice from breaking in. Each and every one of these kinds of incidents should make it clear that guns save lives.
