Democrats Take Up ATF Bullet Ban As 23 State Attorney Generals Call on ATF to Abandon It

Democrats (can we just openly call them communists now?) have not taken kindly to the fact that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE), under the leadership of B. Todd Jones and at the command of Barack Hussein Obama, have pulled back on their proposed ban of “green tip” M855 ammunition. Now, Democrats are deciding to openly attempt, once again, to violate Article Two of the Bill of Rights.

According to The Blaze:

Four House Democrats have taken the Obama administration’s idea of a regulation to ban a widely used kind of ammunition — one it had to pull back because it was so unpopular — and turned it into legislation.

Rep. Eliot Engel (D-N.Y.) introduced the Armor Piercing Bullets Act, which he said would ban the sale of “.223-dervied, 5.56x45mm NATO ‘green tip’ rounds” that are commonly used on the AR-15 rifle. That’s the same ban that the ATF proposed in February, through the adoption of a “framework” that would justify a ban on all bullets that can pierce police body armor.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Don’t think for a minute that the ATF has completely scrapped the idea of backdoor gun control by banning ammunition. It hasn’t. In fact, ATF Director B. Todd Jones said just last week, that his unconstitutional agency is “figuring out how we do this rationally.”

Perhaps, Jones should figure out how to do it constitutionally, which would mean that he resign and take all his unconstitutional employees with him and stop messing with the Second Amendment, which was put in place to protect “the right of the people to keep and bear arms,” and that right “shall not be infringed.”

However, a member of the House of Representatives has put forth legislation that would prohibit the unconstitutional agency from future ammunition bans.

Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC) put forward The Ammunition and Firearms Protection Act would “prevent the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) from classifying M855 ammunition as armor-piercing and from instituting any ban on the sale and manufacture of ammunition that is intended, marketed, and sold for rifle use.”

“The Ammunition and Firearms Protection Act would put an end to this attack on our Second Amendment by ensuring this popular ammunition used by countless law-abiding American sportsmen remains available and not subject to any future ATF bans,” McHenry said in a statement.

While I applaud his efforts, the reality is that this will not “put an end to this attack on our Second Amendment.” The reality is that the Second Amendment is abundantly clear that even my five-year-old can understand what it means to not infringe on something. That doesn’t matter to communist gun grabbers. They can only see obtaining more power by the means of infringing on the rights of the people.

Chris Cox of the National Rifle Association concurred with my sentiments, “The Obama administration has made it clear that they will pursue an ammunition ban whenever they see an opportunity.”

In referencing keeping an eye on the ATF, McHenry said, “They have still left open the possibility that it could be proposed again in the future and many Congressional Democrats have called for just that.”

On top of that, 23 state attorneys have urged the ATF to drop the proposed ban entirely. Good for them! Let’s give our support for these state attorneys in their efforts!
