Harry Reid is Retiring – It’s a Shame He Isn’t Being Charged With Treason, Corruption or Bad Behavior

Some Democrats and liberal leftists are probably experiencing the “exploding head” moment today since Sen. Harry Reid, Senate Minority Leader, announced his retirement at the end of his current term by video. Reid made sure to point out that his retirement had nothing to do with his recent eye injury or the fact that a Democratic majority was lost in the Senate reducing him to minority leader. He also contended it was not about his ability to be re-elected as “the path to reelection is much easier than probably anytime that I’ve run for reelection.”

Reid commented about the work he had done in the Senate for the State of Nevada being just as fulfilling as if he had been in Fenway Park. He indicated his first career choice was to be an athlete. As far as money goes, I’m sure Reid did find his political career in the Senate as “fulfilling.” He’s been a Senator for Nevada since 1986, making Reid a “career politician.” During the Cliven Bundy episode, it was rumored that Sen. Reid was scheduled to make a sizeable amount for his son by “being involved in the deal” that would place a solar plant on the state land Bundy ranched.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Reid became the face for obstruction of legislation in the Senate when more than 200 legislative bills languished on his desk and Republicans were blocked from adding addendums or riders to bills that did see the light of the Senate floor. Taking to the Senate floor, Reid basically declared many Americans “liars” when they related horror stories about their Obamacare experience. In addition, Reid also showed a particularly callous attitude during the “government shutdown” by denying a treatment for cancer patients, particularly a child, saying “Why would we want to do that?” And, let’s not forget that Reid dubbed supporters of Cliven Bundy as “domestic terrorists” during the aggressive land grab by the federal government through the Bureau of Land Management that cost Bundy the loss of many heads of cattle.

This is the man who proclaimed in his retirement video “I’ve done my best.” Well, if this was his “best,” he wasn’t much to begin with and his leaving is no great loss.

The one comment that stood out the most in Reid’s “attempt at looking human and producing an emotional response” video was this one.

“We have to make sure the Democrats take control of the Senate again and I felt it is inappropriate for me to soak up all those resources on me when I could be devoting those resources to the caucus. And, that’s what I intend to do.”

Reid had no concern for the country at large or the State of Nevada. His concern was Democrats retaking of the Senate. Of course, Reid appeared to be less than self-serving as his main reason for retirement seemed to be “devoting” the resources he would receive for a reelection campaign to the caucus. Now there’s a new reason to retire. Try as Reid might, his self-serving spots have not changed.

In his parting announcement, Reid could not resist taking a stab at Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).

“My friend, Senator McConnell, don’t be too elated. I’m going to be here for 22 months and you know what I’m going to be doing? The same thing I’ve done since I first came to the Senate.

Let me guess – try to line your pockets further, undermine the legislative process, malign the American public, sell out America, and continue your latest stint as Obama’s “main” boy. In other words, business as usual.

No matter how hard Reid tries to come off as a member of the human species, he just can’t seem to control the troll.

Another interesting factor in Reid’s retirement announcement is timing. Reid has announced his retirement just as the investigation into Sen. Bob Menendez’s involvement with eye doctor Salomon Melgen led to possible federal corruption charges to be levied against the New Jersey Democrat by the Justice Department. Obama is scheduled to leave office in 2016 at the end of his second traitorous term as Oval Office occupant – maybe. Then, there is further ramp up of Obamacare.

There are many individuals in America who are elated to hear that Reid will be retiring – this writer is one of them. This is one career politician elitist jerk that will be gone from the halls of government. Now it’s time to get rid of others who have made careers out of elected federal positions to the detriment of America. However, don’t expect Reid to disappear from the limelight. One can bet he’ll find other ways to “dabble” into influencing the course of America toward a socialist/Marxist takeover if it isn’t complete before he leaves office.

Still, one has to question the timing of his retirement to end with his current term. Reid has had a gravy train. The reasons he cited for giving that up ring hollow in light of Reid’s greed, arrogance, narcissism and autocratic, authoritarian nature. There’s more here than meets the eye. But, Reid is finally leaving – 22 months and counting. It’s a shame it is coming via retirement instead of charges for treason, corruption or “bad behavior.”
