Maryland Governor Takes No Action on LGBT Legislation

In our ever-changing world, it is sometimes better to simply keep your opinion to yourself.  Why take the beating over a topic when you are never going to change a person’s mind?  But, when it is your job to deal with such issues, what then?  Are we allowed to do nothing?  It would seem that if you think something is wrong or bad, you are at least complicit if you stand by and do nothing.  It seems Maryland Governor Larry Hogan is going to take the complicit rout.

Fox reports:

Lawmakers in Maryland passed landmark legislation set to go into effect June 3 that gives new protections for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community – and they did it without Gov. Larry Hogan’s support.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

The new laws are not the real news; it is the Governor’s reaction.   Hogan faces a difficult situation.  He has a legislation that has passed with support from both Republicans and Democrats.  If he vetoes the law, he will make enemies within his own party.  If he signs the bill, he will be seen as caving.  But, if he does nothing, he is hoping to both save face and not make enemies.  The middle of the road is no place to walk for long.

“We’re really happy,” Equality Maryland executive director Carrie Evans told the paper. “These are bills that we worked very hard on, and they had bipartisan support in the General Assembly.”

The House and Senate approved the legislation by wide margins, and many in the LGBT community had been watching Hogan’s actions.

It is not hard to believe that Hogan has taken such measures.  Who can blame him?  He has tried to focus in on the economic issues of his state.  With Baltimore just now settling down and out of the media spotlight, he now is faced with the sodomite propaganda machine.  It has to be a fearful thing to have enemies on all sides waiting on you to slip up.  So Hogan has chosen the only safe route.

Hogan has a little more than a week to either sign the measures or veto them. However, his office told The Post on Friday that he has decided to do nothing, thereby allowing the proposals to take effect without specifically weighing in on the issues.

By not weighing in, Hogan does not have to get dirty politically.  And maybe Hogan figures that these laws will be of little consequence.  Once passed, no one will think about them.  The problem is that these kinds of inaction are how we arrived at this dark place in the history of our country.  Men and women doing nothing to combat the push toward depravity.  Now we are facing the total loss of righteousness.

Proverbs 14:34 says

Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.

Hogan is encouraging sin in our nation.  The sin we allow disgraces us and men who love their positions and titles more than righteousness are an even greater disgrace.
