8 & 10-Year-Old Brother and Sister Chase Down Abductor of 22-Month-Old Sibling

Earlier this week, I told you about a 10-year-old boy who saved his older sister from abduction by a convicted sex offender. On the heels of that story comes a story from the State of Washington, where two siblings chased down a man who abducted their 22-month-old brother. The kidnapping was caught on video, as you can see below.

Grocery store and City Hall surveillance cameras in Sprague, Washington caught what took place following an unidentified man snatching up 22-month-old Owen from his stroller and taking off with him as a baby-sitter allowed the siblings to play in the park near her house on Sunday.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

According to KSAT, Owen’s 10-year-old brother Brenden and 8-year-old sister Delicia saw what happened and went in hot pursuit of the man that kidnapped their brother. They didn’t think of their safety at all, but began running after the man and screaming that he should stop.

You can see in the video the two siblings chasing the man as they pass by the cameras.

KSAT reports what happened next:

Witnesses said they could hear the young girl screaming for the suspect to stop. Two teenage boys heard the girl and joined the pursuit.

The suspect then abandoned the toddler in an empty lot before fleeing.

Michael Wright, the father of the siblings is asking anyone with any information that would lead to the arrest of the kidnapper to report it to authorities before it happens to another child.

“You get so nervous. You’re nervous and you can’t think straight,” Wright told KKLY. “I can’t explain the feeling, the anxiety and everything that goes into finding out your children is missing or something has happened to them.”

Dorothy Giddings, a grandmother and eyewitness to what happened, sent her grandson out to help the children chase the man with Owen.

“This little girl come running around the corner screaming her head off,” she said. “I told that little girl, I said, ‘Honey, you did exactly what you needed to do scream your head off.’ That’s what saved that baby. Her screaming and us running.”

Giddings believes it was an act of God that caused the man to put little Owen down and seek his own escape rather than attempt to keep going with the child.

I applaud the bravery and instinct of these two children to chase and scream and make noise to draw attention to the kidnapper. That was more than likely the very thing used in order to make him think about letting little Owen go. Well done children! Well done!

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is asking that if you have information as to who the man is in the video that you contact them at 509-725-3501.
