Amash Claims Comey Memo Merits Impeachment: “I have more Confidence in Director Comey”

There have been many things I have applauded Rep. Justin Amash (R-MI) over, but recently the Republican congressman has simply made some ridiculous decisions.  First, it was to vote in favor of the Republican-authored American Health Care Act.  Now, he seems to be siding with the delusional Democrats over an investigation into the alleged, but unsubstantiated Trump team colluding with Russia “scandal.”

I put the word scandal in quotes because, as of yet, I have not seen any evidence of a scandal.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

However, Amash was asked on Wednesday if President Donald Trump had applied pressure to FBI Director James Comey to stop his investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn, would it be something impeachable.

Yes,” Amash said.

“But everybody gets a fair trial in this country,” the Michigan congressman said.

Amash was later asked whether or not he trusted Comey or Trump’s account of what happened between them.

“I think it’s pretty clear I have more confidence in Director Comey,” Amash said.

On what basis Rep. Amash?  Mr. Comey is a man that acknowledged Hillary Clinton broke the law, but would not seek to encourage her prosecution.

“Amash is one of only two House Republicans to cosponsor a Democratic bill to establish an independent commission to investigate Russia’s role in the election. Rep. Walter Jones, R-N.C., has also endorsed the legislation,” The Hill reported.

Seriously, this is all about nothing.  We already know where all this Russian business came from.  It came from the Hillary Clinton campaign within 24 hours of the night the American people rejected her.

Furthermore, now we have the Justice Department appointing none other than former FBI Director and “Obama-colluding to silence political opposition” Robert Mueller to investigate these ridiculous charges against President Trump.

Jonathan Turley, who is a Constitutional scholar, has argued that the memo in question does not merit impeachment.

“Some commentators seem to be alleging criminal conduct in office or calling for impeachment before Trump completed the words of his inaugural oath of office,” Turley wrote at The Hill. “Not surprising, within minutes of the New York Times report, the response was a chorus of breathless ‘gotcha’ announcements. But this memo is neither the Pentagon Papers nor the Watergate tapes. Indeed, it raises as many questions for Comey as it does Trump in terms of the alleged underlying conduct.”

“The criminal code demands more than what Comey reportedly describes in his memo,” he added.  “There are dozens of different variations of obstruction charges ranging from threatening witnesses to influencing jurors. None would fit this case.”

I agree.  This is not anything impeachable at all.  If someone wanted to pursue impeachment against President Trump, they might try going do the unauthorized use of the military in firing 59 missiles into Syria, something I have pointed out that is unconstitutional, and is impeachable because it is unconstitutional.

However, I see no reason for this kind of talk regarding impeachment concerning allegations of Russian collusion that is without evidence and being pushed by rabid Democrats, and now Republicans, when the didn’t even peep when Barack Hussein Obama Soetoro Sobarkah talked with Iran and Hamas during his 2008 campaign.

I’m very disappointed in Amash and others, but honestly, I’m not surprised.

In March 2017, Amash chided Trump for succumbing to DC establishment types regarding RINOCare.  He tweeted:

“It didn’t take long for the swamp to drain @realDonaldTrump. No shame, Mr. President. Almost everyone succumbs to the D.C. Establishment.”

Rep. Amash, seems you are following in those same footsteps now.
