On Saturday, zookeepers shot and killed a gorilla after a 3-year-old boy slipped through a barrier and fell into its enclosure at a Cincinnati Zoo, triggering outcry over how the incident was handled.
According to a statement by Cincinnati Zoo Director Thane Maynard, “That child’s life was in danger. People who question that don’t understand you can’t take a risk with a silverback gorilla, this is a dangerous animal,” he said. “Looking back, we’d make the same decision. The child is safe.”
From viewing the video clip of the incident and seeing the gorilla named Harambe dragging the child around in the moat of the enclosure like a rag doll; it was obvious to me what needed to be done. Human life is much more precious than any animal’s life. But I was surprised to see the huge outcry in social media from the many who complained that the gorilla’s life should have been spared even stating the zookeepers acted too hastily and should have used tranquilizers or some other method.
This reminded me of the incident in Africa a year ago where dentist Dr. Walter J. Palmer of Minnesota shot and killed a lion name Cecil while hunting in Zimbabwe, which sprouted international outrage from the animal rights community and the populace at large in America. The lion’s death sparked a call for the arrest of the dentist for doing what was essentially legal in the African nation. News coverage was huge and constant with animal rights activists calling for a boycott of the dentist business and the local DA’s office in the USA looking for a way to potentially prosecute the dentist.
In the United States nearly 4000 babies are killed daily in abortion clinics across the nation. They are dispatched in a variety of heinous ways including choking, beheading, scalding, sniping of the spinal cord and/or eviscerating and vacuuming; all for the sake of convenience in the name of healthcare and paid for by our tax dollars. The “Butcher of Philadelphia” and now convicted murderer abortionist Kermit Gosnell would even allow the babies to be born and then kill them in the birth canal or on the delivery table.
Approximately 1800 of the 4000 babies aborted daily are Black babies though Black Americans represent only 13 percent of the population. In the 43 years since the ruling of Roe v. Wade by the Supreme Court upholding abortion in 1973 over 58 million babies have been aborted. Approximately 16 million of those babies were black, so negatively impacting the black population in America that today Blacks are in depopulation in urban centers throughout the nation where traditionally there had been strong growth going all the way back to Jim Crow and Segregation.
Where’s the outrage for the thousands of babies mutilated daily and fully sanctioned and financed by our government to the tune of half a billion dollars per year going to Planned Parenthood? Where is the outrage for the obvious Black Genocide of abortion taking place in America’s inner city urban centers where 70 plus percent of abortion clinics are located? Where is the outrage for the selling of baby parts by the abortion industry whose cover was valiantly blown by pro-life activist David Daleiden? And where is the outrage for the plight of Mr. Daleiden who is now under indictment by the attorney general’s office of the state of California simply because he exposed what those in the pro-life community have known for years, they do indeed sell the body parts of aborted babies?
Have we as a nation slipped down the proverbial slippery slope of degradation so much so that we now value animal life equal to or superior to human life? From watching the chatter on social media and the local and national media outlets given to the plight of a gorilla, I am not encouraged by what I see. I sense a death of common sense in America and with that death a hardness of heart.
I am reminded of the Scripture: Isaiah 5:20: “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!”
Someone please get the “defibrillator of truth” of the Gospel and place it over America’s heart, and let’s all collectively shout “CLEAR”!
