Anti-theist Nebraska Senator: “If I was a White Guy, I’d get my Semiautomatic Weapon and… Mow Everybody Down”

Nebraska State Senator Ernie Chambers is getting closer to meeting his Maker and yet, he persists in his racism and the murderous intentions of his heart keep coming out in his statement. His latest comments came during a debate on a bill to prohibit job discrimination based on sexual orientation (we commonly call it deviancy). Apparently, Chambers became so frustrated with what was being said that he blurted out, “If I was a white guy, I’d go get my semiautomatic weapon and come down here and mow everybody down.”

The Lincoln Journal Star reports:

During legislative debate on a measure to prohibit job discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity, a visibly frustrated Chambers explained why he’d watched much of the discussion from his downstairs office.

“If I was up here I’d probably pick these books up and start throwing them around,” he said. “If I was a white guy, I’d go get my semiautomatic weapon and come down here and mow everybody down.”

The comment startled many people who were following the debate online and drew quick responses from some of Chambers’ fellow state senators.

Some in the session were taken back by the 78-year-old’s comments.

Sen. Lydia Brash of Bancroft said, “That’s not what we need to be talking about today.”

Sadly, Speaker of the Nebraska Legislature Galen Hadley did not call out Chambers immediately. In fact, it wasn’t until Thursday that he criticized Chambers’ comments saying, “I find those words appalling used in any context.

He then made reference to places where Americans as “being mowed down and added, “It’s time to stop the killing and start the healing. We can start by everyone using his or her words carefully.”

Hadley’s criticism was met with applause by those in the legislature, but Chambers remained defiant.

“I shall continue to express myself in the way I see fit, and if people’s ears are too tender, they’re free to walk out like they often do when I’m speaking,” Chambers said.

This isn’t Chambers first time being embroiled in controversy. WND reports on several the Nebraska senator’s escapades over the years:

  • One year ago, Chambers compared police officers in America to Islamic terrorists. And he suggested at the time he would shoot a cop if only he had a weapon.
  • Months ago, Chambers attacked the Keystone XL Pipeline project. In January 2014, he introduced a bill to collect more revenue by taking away churches’ property-tax exemptions.
  • He also publicly blasted the Catholic Church, the Bible and Christians.
  • In 2008, he demanded from a court a “permanent injunction ordering [God] to cease certain harmful activities and the making of terroristic threats.”… Chambers sued God for creating “fearsome floods, egregious earthquakes, horrendous hurricanes, terrifying tornadoes, pestilential plagues, ferocious famines, devastating droughts, genocidal wars, birth defects and the like.” Chambers also blames God for causing “calamitous catastrophes resulting in the wide-spread death, destruction and terrorization of millions upon millions of the Earth’s inhabitants including innocent babes, infants, children, the aged and infirm without mercy or distinction.”

Additionally, Les Kinsolving reported back in 2002:

The president the Catholic League for Civil and Religious Rights, William Donahue, said Chambers is “an anti-Catholic, anti-Semitic, racist state senator who hates America.”

“Here’s the proof: He has engaged in the most virulent anti-Catholic remarks while opposing school vouchers; he has disfigured Catholic devotional objects and distributed them to his colleagues; he has been denounced by several leading Jews for his anti-Semitic remarks; his comments regarding white people have earned him the label ‘One of the biggest racists in Omaha’; he has been crassly dismissive over 9-11 saying: ‘It didn’t affect me at all’; and he has accused President Bush of being a drunken moral coward who is bent on starting World War III.”

One has to wonder what the people who elect Chambers to office are thinking and whether are not they actually believe as Mr. Chambers does. What do you think?
