The bill would also ban the use of state assets or money in the enforcement of future federal gun laws.
Any local government found to have assisted in the enforcement of such federal gun laws in violation of the act would lose all of its state funding the following year. State or local employers would face criminal penalties for knowingly violating the law.
HB2300 would effectively withdraw all state cooperation from the implementation or enforcement of future federal gun laws that restrict the right to keep and bear arms as understood under the federal or state constitution.
Michael Gibbs of the Arizona Tenth Amendment Center publicly testified in favor of the bill after Kern discussed it, and there was no opposition presentation. The committee passed it with a 4-2 vote on party lines.
