Baltimore Corrections Officers Charged with Crime of Looting During Riots

To be honest, this is not very surprising.  The corruption in the Baltimore government is apparent for anyone that is willing to open their eyes.  From Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake (who appear as though she has had one too many drinks or is in a drug induced stupor) rolling out the red carpet for provocateurs and rioters to destroy the city of Baltimore to State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby bringing charges against six officers in the death of Freddie Gray, which she has no hope of actually proving her case the corruption is clear.  Now, it’s becoming clear that those who were supposed to uphold the law against criminals have, in fact, been accused with the crime of looting during the Baltimore riots.

Kendra Richard and Tamika Cobb has been accused of being involved in looting during the Baltimore riots.  Now, if this were you or me, we would be arrested and we would be facing a hearing before a judge.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

CBS reports:

Police said Cobb and Richard could be seen on surveillance camera leaving the closed 7-Eleven with merchandise.

Police say a tip led them to review video footage that allegedly showed the pair looting, during rioting that erupted after Freddie Gray, a black man, suffered mortal injuries while in police custody.

“Our Intelligence and Investigative Division did an outstanding job, immediately following up on this tip,” said Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services Secretary Stephen T. Moyer. “We will not allow the vast majority of our employees who are honest and hardworking to be tainted by the actions of a few.”

Freddie Gray was arrested for apparently less.  However, what has happened to these two women?  According to reports, both of them have merely been reassigned to a downtown Baltimore Division of Correction facility.

Police claim they can be seen committing a crime on surveillance video.  They were moved to a place where they are over those who have been convicted of crimes.

The Baltimore Sun reports further:

Public Safety and Correctional Services Secretary Stephen T. Moyer praised investigators for “immediately” following up on a tip that led to the officers’ arrest.

“We will not allow the vast majority of our employees who are honest and hardworking to be tainted by the actions of a few,” Moyer said in a statement.

Neither Cobb nor Richard had attorneys listed in court records. No one could be reached at an address listed for Cobb. A woman who answered the phone at an address listed for Richard said no one with that name lived there.

Both officers were processed at Central Booking, with bail set at $35,000.

According to a press release:

Two correctional officers have been suspended without pay after being charged today with theft and burglary in connection with looting that occurred during riots last month in Baltimore.

Acting on a tip, Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) intelligence officers and detectives from the Intelligence and Investigative Division (IID) reviewed video footage that allegedly showed looting from a closed 7-11 store in the 300 block of West Baltimore Street in downtown Baltimore. The video, recorded during the evening of April 25, shows two women later identified as Tamika Cobb and Kendra Richard leaving the store with merchandise.

Both women had been assigned to a downtown Baltimore Division of Correction facility. They are on leave without pay as the charges against them include a felony.

“Our Intelligence and Investigative Division did an outstanding job, immediately following-up on this tip,” said DPSCS Secretary Stephen T. Moyer.

I wonder if we’ll be seeing Mrs. Mosby having a press conference without an angry mob around her to demand justice.
