Chicago’s Gun Prohibition Sees “Deadliest July in 10 Years”

In what could be considered the largest gun prohibition city in the united States, Chicago has just seen its “deadliest July in 10 years,” according to The Chicago Tribune.

The Tribune reports:

Trinyce L. Sanders-Wilson was a member of the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church for more than 20 years.  She was in the choir and worked with the children at the West Side church.

As she left Sunday services and crossed the street to her car over the weekend, her estranged husband walked up and shot her dead, authorities said. Then he killed himself.

Sanders-Wilson was among the last of the 65 people killed in Chicago in July, a toll that pushed the number of homicides in the city this year to nearly 400.  The total for all of last year was 490.

It was the deadliest July since 2006, when 65 homicides were also recorded, according to Chicago Police Department records.  Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson noted that the month was still lower than June, when 72 homicides were reported.

On Tuesday, the Tribune reported that 2,395 shootings had taken place in the Windy City in the first seven months of this year. Compare that to the 2,988 shooting victims for all of 2015.

In April, I reported on the fact that Chicago’s gun violence has nearly doubled over a 12 month period.

In May, on Mother’s Day weekend in Chicago, 49 people were shot and 8 were killed in a 48 hour period.

Chicago has a fictitious “assault weapons ban” in place, plus they make it incredibly difficult for law abiding citizens to obtain a handgun, impose a “violence tax” and are overly tyrannical against gun stores in the city.

This is the result of such actions. Violating the basic rights of people to keep and bear arms only empowers criminals and criminal governments. It does nothing to stop crime at all. It only makes those, whose rights are being violated defenseless against lawbreakers.
