Editor’s Note: The following story was base on a couple of articles I thought verified the story. Now, I have come to discover that this was a hoax put on by John Resig and his brother Leo, founders of the Chive website. My apologies for the error, but did want people to know when they read the below article what took place. Stuff reported:

John Resig wrote that he’s been more busy with charity work lately but “you never lose the itch” to hoax the media.

Construction at his house in Mesa provided the perfect opportunity, Resig wrote.

“The 8-year-old in me remembered watching Geraldo Rivera open Al Capone’s vault and wanted so badly for there to be something, anything, in that damn thing.

“It was unique little ruse and we had a lot of fun creating it.”

The Independent also confirmed it as a hoax.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

A couple in Phoenix, Arizona discovered a safe code in their medicine cabinet when they purchased their home. Though they looked for a safe, they were unable to find it. So, they put the code away just in case. Two years later, they found the safe and what was inside was incredible.

According to Imgur, user Sarm said, “When we first moved in we found a safe code in the back of a medicine cabinet but never found a safe. Still, I saved the little code just in case.”

She said that she and her husband had begun to do some work in their kitchen. When they removed the
kitchen island, the discovered the safe had been sitting up under it, built into the floor.

Though they couldn’t believe they found it, Sarm wrote, “I started to reach in the safe and Eddie yelled, ‘Wait it might be booby trapped!’ I’m still laughing at that one.”

“After a half dozen attempts, it actually worked,” she said.

Here’s what they found inside:

“It looks to be about $50,000,” she said. “Mostly old $100 bills. Ok, we totally counted it. $51,080!”

However, that wasn’t all, along with all the old money was a bottle of James E. Pepper Kentucky Bourbon that was stamped 1960 (apparently this is a very rare bourbon), a copy of A Guide for the Perplexed by E.F. Schumacher with a picture inside and a series of what may be clues to the location of something on the pages, and a BINGO card.

Three numbers on the BINGO card were circled and Eddie, Sarm’s husband, believes they may be another code for another safe that might be found if the couple can figure out the clues noted in the book.

In fact, the couple discovered “A photo of a house or old estate beneath the sentence, ‘There yielded such fruitful results.'”

The back of the photo reads, ‘Where one tree becomes three.'”

The couple say that if the owner, who appears to be named Alan, were to prove to be alive, they would happily return the items to him, but they claimed it would be conditional on them keeping the bourbon.

I’m guessing those hundred dollar bills are worth much more than $100, and the bourbon is probably worth more than several bottle of bourbon as well. I think I would get it all appraised.
