Democrats Threaten Filibuster of Gorsuch as Republicans Weight Nuclear Option

President Donald trump unveiled Judge Neil Gorsuch as his nominee to replace the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.  The Democrats have completely lost their senses when it comes to the confirmation of Judge Gorsuch and have claimed they are set to filibuster his confirmation following the 11-9 vote along party lines that move his nomination our of the Senate Judiciary Committee to be voted on possibly by the end of the week.

“Judge Gorsuch’s views were difficult to discern because he refused to answer many questions — even basic questions that had been answered by previous nominees,” said Sen. Dianne Feinstein(D-CA).

To be honest, it’s hard for Senator Feinstein to understand anything.  Just look at her comments regarding gun confiscation.

Does this appear to be a woman that understand the Second Amendment’s words, “the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed”?

In Judge Gorsuch’s defense, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles Grassley said, “Over the last couple months, the nominee’s opponents have tried to find a fault with him that will stick. And it just hasn’t worked.  His approach is consistent with the canons of judicial ethics.”

Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has threatened a filibuster if Trump doesn’t pick a judge that sides with Democrats.

Of course, we have Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) claiming that Judge Gorsuch will be confirmed this week.

“We’re going to get Judge Gorsuch confirmed this week,” McConnell said on “Fox News Sunday.”

Will McConnell be another Paul Ryan, promising and not delivering?  It’s possible.  Or, as Rush Limbaugh pointed out on Monday, this could result in Republicans doing the same thing that Democrats did and using the nuclear option to use a simple majority to confirm Judge Gorsuch.
Limbaugh commented:

The Democrats are losing power in every election. And I think that’s part of the panic. They want us to believe that the behavior and panic is rooted in an absolute outraged offense over this president that we have, this is just unacceptable and some maniac like Trump is so out of the ordinary, out of the norm, has to be stopped. I don’t think that’s what it is. I mean, it’s part of it. But I think there’s a much larger panic that is taking over the Democrat Party. And it’s gonna implode on ’em.

And I’ll tell you, one of the areas it’s gonna implode is this entire effort they have made to tie Trump’s election to Russian malfeasance or hacking. That is about to blow up in their face. In fact, it may of already have. It’s just that you don’t find this news yet in much of the mainstream media.

Pulling out all the stops here on Gorsuch politically makes no sense, but it does make sense if the Democrats’ lunatic maniac base is demanding it and threatening never to send the Democrats any money ever again. Then that would explain why they’re willing to fall on the sword here, because this is not the nominee that you want to force the nuclear option on. Because once the nuclear option is pulled, it’s pulled. And once the rule is changed, it’s changed. It’s not changed per nominee. It’s changed. And if they force this, then all they’re gonna need in future Supreme Court nominees is 51 votes.

Trump could nominate somebody they literally despise, somebody that could be the most outrageous choice in the world, and they’re not gonna be able to stop that nominee if they force McConnell to pull the nuclear option.

That means the rules would change with this nomination and every nomination after that would need a simple majority to confirm them.
It appears to me that Democrats are so distraught over Donald Trump being in the White House that they can’t even see what they are doing to themselves, which is not necessarily a bad thing.
