Either You Are Killing Sin or Sin is Killing You! – Do You Stand Apart From the Crowd?

Everyone has a choice to make in life. Joshua 24:15 says, “…choose you this day whom ye will serve…” You are either going to serve the Lord or you are not.  The Bible says in Matthew 7:13-14, “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”

A majority of the world today is going with the flow and along with every type of evil you can imagine.  It is the duty and privilege of every true Christian, to go against it. Either you are killing sin or sin are killing you.  Either you are overcoming the world or the world is overcoming you!

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 6:17-18, “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be My sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.”

Are you separate from the world?

The Bible says in James 1:27, “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.” Are you unspotted from the world or are you going right along with it?  Remember, although we are in the world, we are not of world.  Romans 12:2 says, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

Recently, we were walking through a place and passing out Gospel tracks where people were enjoying their love of the world.  As we were going through, my 11-year-old son looked at me and said, “Though we are in the world, we are not of the world.”  I said, “I couldn’t of said it better myself.”  We are called to be lights to this dark world, not one with the darkness. I John 2:15-17 says, “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.  And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.”

I can’t for the life of me understand why those who “profess” their Christianity try to “win men to Christ” when they are no different from those in the world around them! They act no different, dress no different, talk no different, and are in no wise examples of Christ that stand apart from the crowd. Rather, they are lukewarm untrue professors that the Lord said He would spew out of his mouth (Revelation 3:16). The “professed Church” is not the “true Church” and anyone who is a partaker of this world and of its evil is not a true child of Christ!

The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 13:5, “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves…” If your conscious has spoken to you through this article, then there are some things that you need to get right between you and the Lord. Remember, “Though we be in this world, we are not of the world.” It’s dark out there today, but God’s kids shine best in the dark!
