I was recently watching an interview of a young woman who thought she could play around with the idea of God. It just didn’t “click” for her at the current point and time in her life. She basically said that in 20 years or maybe tomorrow it would, but not right now. She was being defiant against her Creator. While she was being interviewed, the interviewer asked her if it concerned her that if she died she would go to hell. Her response to this was basically, “I’ll tell you what, all my friends are going to be there so…” She wasn’t buying the truth of the message she was hearing.
It basically comes down to this. She was happy with her sinful, lawless lifestyle and didn’t want God or anyone else for that matter to tell her anything different than what she wanted to do. God’s Law (The Ten Commandments – Exodus 20) or “rules” as the heathen like to put it, did not fit into her selfish and sinful agenda. How many people do you know like that? They are people who believe God is just something that they will get around to when they’re old and they’ve had their fun and they’re done with their partying. Then, later on in life, after they’ve indulged in all the sin that they wanted to and are close to dying, they might visit the whole God idea (If it suits them then).
Listen lady, sir, God is not an option! He’s not something you get around to whenever you get around to it! It really has come down to the fact that the creation is so prideful and wicked and so high minded of its own self that it has the audacity to tell the Creator what they’re going to do! It doesn’t fly that way people and it certainly will not fly with you on Judgment Day! Hebrews 9:27 says, “…it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.”
First of all, you are not promised tomorrow. Second Corinthians 6:2 says, “…now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” Do you think you get to decide when you’re going to be snuffed out from this earth and enter into the realm of eternity? I don’t think so. You are not the Creator. You are the creation, so you best keep that in mind. There is only one King and that’s King Jesus. It doesn’t matter if people believe it or not because it is still true. It doesn’t matter if I believe in buses or not because if I stand on the road in front of one coming my way, I can say, “I don’t believe it, I don’t believe it” all I want, but it’s still going to hit me!
You and I are on the path of life and we never know which day is going to be our last. The Bible says in Ephesians 5:15-16, “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” Many people play with the idea of God. They want to experience this or try that or seek out other religions to see what they’re all about, but it all boils down to this. God IS and there is no other. Jesus said, in John 14:6 “…I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.”
The time has come for true Christians to stand up (And if you really are a true Christian no one is going to have to tell you to do that anyway) and proclaim the Gospel the way it was meant to be (With the Law, Judgment, Mercy and Faith). Law to the proud and grace to the humble. If you ruffle a few feathers, fine. If you get people angry with you for righteousness’ sake, even better. If people are angry with you because they are convicted of their sin, you are doing your job.
We are not here, nor are we called, to patty cake with others and their beliefs. We are called to give people the unadulterated black-and-white truth of the Gospel, not to sugarcoat it to fit people’s idol image of God that does not exist. After all, it is their eternity that is at stake and they need to know the truth! So, don’t back down from a sarcastic, “When I get around to it” unbeliever. Stand your ground and advance the Kingdom of Heaven on this earth. The world is dying to see the true Christ in demonstration and real love in action (I John 3:18).
