The Great Sin of Doing Nothing

Many people out there are not happy with America today. They complain about our country as a whole. They are not for the lies, scandals, and overall corruption in the Church and in government, but they do nothing to stop it neither. They know homosexuality is an abomination in God’s eyes, that abortion is murder, and they see on a daily basis the moral decline of America, however, even amidst all this they remain silent.

A woman by the name of Ella Wheeler Wilcox rightfully said, “To sin by silence, when men should protest, makes cowards of men.”  And how true it is.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Seventy-eight percent of Americans “profess” to be Christians. If 78% of these “professed” Christians actually practiced their Christianity in our country, the issues they now complain about, wouldn’t even exist. Why? Because the very nature of Christianity is aggressive. The very nature of Christianity is to take the cloak of covering off of men’s sin (John 15:22). Christians are to confront the evils of the day (Ephesians 5:11), so they are not allowed to take root in our society.  If those that claim their Christianity did this, this nation would be restored. If Christ was truly the center of men’s hearts, we would have peace throughout our land (Matthew 6:33).

Do not profess yourself to be a Christian, if in works you deny Christ (Titus 1:16).

Jesus said in Matthew 15:8, “This people draweth nigh unto Me with their mouth, and honoureth Me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.”

The Bible also says in James 2:17, “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.” It then goes on to say in verse 18, “Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.”

If you professed to be a Christian, but in your works, obedience, and most of all in your heart of sincere love to God (which causes you to be moved to action) is lacking in your life, then you’re not yet converted or saved.

Just because you go to church doesn’t make you a Christian.  Just because you pray before you eat a meal doesn’t make you a Christian. Just because you don’t smoke, drink, or swear doesn’t make you a Christian any more than parking yourself into a garage would make you a car! What makes you a Christian is true repentance before God, being washed from your sin in the blood of Christ (Isaiah 66:2) and then living a life in obedience to God and His commands out of a heart of love to Him because you see the sacrifice of what Jesus Christ did for you on the cross (John 3:16).

Matthew 11:12 says, “And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.”  Are you taking on the evils you see today that are constantly being pushed on the American people as a nation by force? Is your face set like a flint against wickedness? (Ezekiel 3:9; Isaiah 50:7)  Are you as a Moses, who with God’s help and strength stood in front of the face of Pharaoh and said, “Let My people go!” or are you a spineless capitulating coward who complains about everything, but in action does absolutely nothing (Psalm 78:9)?

Jesus said in I John 3:18, “My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.”  Your love for God is not in simply saying that you love the Lord, but by sincerely living your life, bearing your cross, and doing that which God has called you to do.

If you’re a complainer, I’ll remind you of a wonderful saying that we have around here, “Don’t complain about what you tolerate.” Is it not time to fight lawfully to keep this nation free and restore it back unto Christ? Yes! It’s beyond time!
