Do we as a nation have any legitimate chance of survival?
We are being buried in an avalanche of multiplied moral and spiritual evil at every level of society. Thankfully, we have a courageous minority among us faithfully reviewing and reporting, exposing and rebuking many of the works of darkness in our land and pointing to what appear to be righteous alternatives.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
Daily successions of disturbing events are leaving many of us critical, cynical and numb. Discussions of evil matters have often led us to despair. We are suffering from asking too many hard questions without any solid answers in sight as the moral and spiritual core of America continues to decay.
We are becoming a nation with nothing to go back to, and seemingly no one reliable to turn to. Many continue to only curse the darkness, rant on a regular basis and hide out in their chosen survival mode. Genuine, lasting solutions that will surely change our course for the better seem nowhere to be found. Having looked to politics, religion, church, education, behavior modification, family, entertainment, self-indulgence, materialism and sexual perversion to save us, we have come away deceived and disillusioned, deadened and destroyed.
The cries of warning and pleas for repentance of the few true prophets in the land largely go unheard or disregarded. But for those of us who long for a true revival of righteousness, where do we focus our efforts? How do we discover and effectively address the root causes of all our woes?
The only basic solution for every tragic ill in America is found in these marvelous words,
“And the angel said unto them, Fear not; for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:10-11
Here is where our focus needs to be!
Jesus Christ–through His virgin birth and sinless life, His gracious death on the cross to pay the full penalty due because of our sin, His glorious resurrection, His ascension and exaltation at the Father’s right hand–is indeed the only hope for America, as well as for all nations. He is the only way for us to have a right relationship with God, which results in right living. Only He can transform us from the inside out. And Jesus Christ calls you and me to personally receive Him, and then communicate His great news to as many as we can while we can.
Yes, there is still great hope for America, for you and for me. But it gets down to a matter of choice– bondage or liberty, death or life, Satan or the Savior?
