Intel Reports Altered to Better Fit What Obama Has Told Us about ISIS

When we are in certain situations, clear understandings from accurate reports are very important.  When we are fighting a serious disease that threatens our lives and are undergoing costly treatments, we need to know how effective the treatments have been in curbing the disease.  Likewise, when we are fighting a war, we need to know what tactics have had the best effects.  We also need to know how strong our enemy is and what his strengths are.

Whether medical information or military intelligence, honesty is not the best policy—it has to be the only policy.  If we are going to know what needs to be done and what has been most effective, we must know the truth.  Having someone tell us what we want to hear is not helpful; in fact, it is very hurtful.  This is why the military analysis of ISIS’s strength should not be altered, although this is exactly what has been happening.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

The Daily Beast reports:

More than 50 intelligence analysts working out of the U.S. military’s Central Command have formally complained that their reports on ISIS and al Qaeda‘s branch in Syria were being inappropriately altered by senior officials, The Daily Beast has learned.

One would think that there would be outrage from the administration and the military establishment over such a revelation.  Rather, we hear nothing, and the reason may be that the military establishment, like the administration, have an interest in this mishandling of information.

The Beast continued:

Two senior analysts at CENTCOM signed a written complaint sent to the Defense Department inspector general in July alleging that the reports, some of which were briefed to President Obama, portrayed the terror groups as weaker than the analysts believe they are. The reports were changed by CENTCOM higher-ups to adhere to the administration’s public line that the U.S. is winning the battle against ISIS and al Nusra, al Qaeda’s branch in Syria, the analysts claim.

So, when your doctor and the hospital have no hope of losing the patient but can continue to milk him for more money, it might be seen in their best interest to lie about the progress of their treatment.  And this seems to be the reason for the alterations of the analysis.  The President has told Americans that ISIS was being contained and defeated by our military activities.  But, what we are finding is that neither the military supplying of Iraq nor the touted air campaign has been as effective as we once thought.

The Beast reports:

The complaints allege that in some cases key elements of intelligence reports were removed, resulting in a document that didn’t accurately capture the analysts’ conclusions, sources familiar with the protest said. But the complaint also goes beyond alleged altering of reports and accuses some senior leaders at CENTCOM of creating an unprofessional work environment. One person who knows the contents of the written complaint sent to the inspector general said it used the word “Stalinist” to describe the tone set by officials overseeing CENTCOM’s analysis.

We should be concerned that both our president and our military do not want us to know the truth about ISIS.  This is not the first time that we were lied to about the war in Iraq and Syria.  But, when the lies are then told to our military planners, we have no hope of defeating this group.  And, unfortunately, this seems to be the intent.

Obama has been accused of protecting ISIS and allowing them to grow in strength. He has delayed action that would have ended the group, which, once again, supports this pro-ISIS narrative.  It is hard to believe that an American president would give assistance to our enemy, but the evidence is mounting.
