God is truly merciful – John Boehner has announced he will step down as speaker of the House at the end of October!
Boehner – like Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell – has long conspired against the will of the voters. And scrutiny of their weak and destructive deeds has intensified since the people overwhelmingly voted in a conservative majority in both the House and Senate to stop Barack Obama’s relentless push to destroy America.

What does it say about us that we end up with leaders like John Boehner?
Boehner promised to defund Obamacare, yet funded it, as he has helped fund Obama’s entire wish list. On Nov. 21, 2014, the Hill quoted Boehner regarding Obama’s executive-order amnesty: “[T]he House will, in fact, act.” If the House acted, apparently we all missed it.
The House provided little government oversight over Benghazi, the IRS, the Veteran’s Administration health-care scandal, NSA spying, Hillary Clinton’s email scandal or anything else of importance to the American people. In fact, it’s safe to say that corruption grew under Boehner’s leadership.
Conservatives have long criticized Boehner’s inept reign as speaker. Some House members recently planned to try to remove him. Boehner was reportedly told they would not vote for a funding bill that provided money for Planned Parenthood. Boehner is likely to push for just such a bill, and other Obama priorities, before leaving.
A government shutdown could occur this week, and fearful Republican “leaders” like Boehner and McConnell are always worried they will be blamed if it occurs, so surrender is their preferred strategy.
At the Family Research Council’s Values Voter Summit, which was taking place a few blocks from the Capitol, many stood up and cheered when Sen. Marco Rubio announced that Boehner was resigning. Rubio said it was time to “turn the page,” noting that politicians are more “out of touch” than ever. Ironically, Rubio has in the past dismissed attacks on GOP leadership. During an interview with Fox News’ Brett Baier, Rubio said that after voter anger swept in a Republican majority, “expectations were raised unnecessarily high.”
Said Sen. Ted Cruz: “If it is correct that the speaker, before he resigns, has cut a deal with Nancy Pelosi to fund the Obama administration for the rest of this year, to fund Obamacare, to fund executive amnesty, to fund Planned Parenthood, to fund the implementation of this Iran deal, and then presumably to land a cushy K Street job after joining with the Democrats to implement all of President Obama’s priorities, that is not the behavior one would expect from a Republican speaker of the House.”
The leading candidate to replace Boehner is Rep. Kevin McCarthy of California, the current majority leader.
McCarthy supports Obama’s global trade deal. And just last year, McCarthy came out in favor of amnesty. Politico reported that McCarthy is viewed as the “go-to” guy for Silicon Valley because he listens to the tech giants’ concerns “100 percent” of the time. Silicon Valley billionaires such as Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg have lobbied for many immigration expansion bills – including Marco Rubio’s new I-squared bill, which would lift the cap on university green cards, triple the number of guest workers admitted on H-1B visas and substantially increase Muslim immigration into the U.S.
During his press conference Friday afternoon, Boehner basically endorsed McCarthy. “I am not going to be here to vote on the next speaker. But that’s up to the members. But having said that, I think Kevin McCarthy would make an excellent speaker.” Boehner’s endorsement displays a telling lack of remorse for his unprincipled leadership, and a desire that it continue.
According to Breitbart, McCarthy, with a 45 percent Conservative Review Liberty Score, is no sure thing to replace Boehner (with a 35 percent Liberty Score): “While McCarthy is still the odds-on favorite to win, he is likely to face a serious and credible challenge from a conservative who can beat him. If McCarthy is going to end up with the speakership after this long and protracted battle, he is going to need to make serious concessions to the conservative side of the House GOP conference.”
Is Mitch McConnell the next to go? Seventy-two percent of Republican primary voters said they are dissatisfied with the ability of Boehner and McConnell to achieve their party’s goals, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll. And 36 percent wanted them immediately removed from their leadership positions.
I hope the American people will see that while Boehner’s coming departure is great news, replacing him with another unprincipled dealmaker is not going to cut it. We must pay close attention to our government, and choose only men and women of character to represent us. But to do that, we ourselves must be men and women of character. Ultimately, John Boehner is not a failure – he is America’s failure.
