London Jihadist Identified as Khalid Masood

On Wednesday, an Islamic jihadist went on a terror rampage in London outside the Parliament building that left several dead, including one police officer.  That man has now been identified as 52-year-old Khalid Masood.

Fox News reports:

London police said Masood was born in Kent, England and they believe he was most recently living in the West Midlands, which includes the central city of Birmingham.

Masood, who died Wednesday after police shot him on Parliament grounds, was known to authorities and had a range of previous convictions for assaults, including grievous bodily harm, possession of offensive weapons and public order offenses.

Police said there was no prior knowledge about his intention to mount a terrorist attack. He had not been convicted for any terrorism offenses.

According to Scotland Yard,  “Khalid Masood is not at this early stage believed to be his birth name.”  He was also first convicted in 1983 for criminal damage and his last conviction was for possession of a knife in 2003.

Masood was previously known to MI5.  The Prime Minister claims that he was considered “a peripheral figure” among suspected terror threats by Islamists.

According to neighbor Iwona Romek, “They were a nice family – very reserved.  He was very calm. I saw the photos on the TV and knew it was the man who lived here.”

She also said the Masood regularly wore traditional white Islamic robes.

So, he apparently wasn’t jihad before he went jihad?  Isn’t that the picture we constantly get about Islamists?  over and over this seems to be a thread that runs through these stories is that people are somehow shocked when followers of Muhammad actually behave as Muhammad did and instructed them to in the Koran.

The Guardian reported on the follow up by police and other arrests.

He had lived in Winson Green for about seven months. One neighbour said he moved out at the end of the year, possibly to a flat above a restaurant on nearby Hagley Road, which was raided by police on Wednesday night.

The flat was just over a mile from an Enterprise Rent-a-Car location where the attacker hired the Hyundai Tucson used to mow down pedestrians. “An employee identified the vehicle after seeing the licence plate in an image online,” a source at the rental company said. “We ran another check to verify and immediately contacted the authorities.”

Records suggest Masood previously lived in Luton and east London with a woman, aged 39. Police announced late on Thursday that they had arrested a 39-year old woman on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts. It is not known if it is the same person.

The Metropolitan police confirmed the raid in Winson Green was part of a wider operation in which several addresses were searched and eight arrests made.

One witness who works in a shop near the Hagley Road flat said police arrested three men.

A neighbour, Stuart Bailey, 25, said: “There were a load of armed police in the street and on the pavement and I could see three or four in front of me. They were all dressed in black and armed with what looked like MP5s [submachine guns] and one of them had six ammunition magazines strapped to his leg. I wasn’t allowed back in my property for an hour.”

Acting Metropolitan police commissioner Craig Mackey, who was actually in the midst of the attack when it occurred and is being treated as a significant witness because of being at the scene, told a crowd gathered later in the day, “People have tried to tear this city apart with acts of terror many times before. They have never succeeded and they never will.”

Hold that thought Commissioner Mackey as you watch the threat of Islam grow because people are too politically correct to deal with it properly.
