A Houston mother who drowned her two young children made her first court appearance on the charges on Wednesday.

ABC 13 reports:

Sheborah Thomas allegedly admitted to drowning her two kids before leaving their bodies under a neighbor’s home.

In 2012, her children were taken from her after her then 2-year-old daughter was found wandering the streets.

Thomas was sent to drug rehab and regained custody of her children.

Family and friends say they are shocked and saddened by the deaths, including Thomas’s friend Regina Halley.

Both children were drowned in the bathtub.

Thomas had been previously arrested for theft and failure to identify to a police officer. She is now facing two counts of capital murder in the deaths of her two children.

Family and friends were shocked at the news of the murders.

“I don’t know what’s with this going on, but I know at one point she loved her kids,” said Thomas’ friend Regina Halley. “We was supposed to go shopping for the kids, for the birthday party and all of this happening, it just bothers me because I don’t know what made her snap or whatever.”

“I feel hurt, I feel defeated,” said Thomas’ aunt, Kita Smith. “I just don’t understand, I want to, I just want to know why. I just want to know why, but I know that we won’t get that answer.”

“It’s definitely hard, it’s hard, I don’t know what else to say,” she added. “I don’t know how to describe this situation or feeling, it’s just really hard.”

Now, the question exists, will there actually be justice brought to bear in this case? While Texas does have the death penalty, the reality is that very few people are actually put to death. However, the death penalty would be proper and in order in this matter since the laws of Texas regarding murder are based on the Law of God. That would be justice, should this woman be found guilty.
