NDAA 2016: “Fake News” Sites Are Subject to Treason Investigations

Written by:

Earlier this week, with a lot of pressure from our woefully dishonest and corrupt mainstream media, some terrifying new legislation was passed that should frighten anyone who values free speech. The legislation I am referring to was quietly passed under the 2016 NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act), and it authorizes the government to investigate and crackdown on websites named in “Fake News” blacklists for treason, and as you might expect there was no coverage on the passage of the legislation by the mainstream corporate media.

In the video below, I explain how legislation like that passed both Houses of Congress when they are both Houses are controlled by the GOP, and what the newly passed legislation means for the future of free speech. In addition to providing a link to the original announcement for those who never read it, I also explain what Google and Facebook “actually” said when they announced they were cracking down on “Fake News.”

You may be surprised to learn what the social media giants announced was far more benign then all the hysterics that were generated in the aftermath of the announcement by various right-wing websites. After all the melodramatic overreacting by conservative websites who never bothered to actually read the original announcement, it appears that they managed to successfully create a self-fulfilling prophecy of sorts now that all of their worst fears have become a reality with the passage of the new 2016 NDAA.

Subject: We are scared sh**less

In the past, you have represented me in Free Speech issues involving Occupy.

Yesterday, following pressure from the corporate media, legislation was quietly passed under the 2016 NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act) authorizing the government to investigate and crackdown on those named in these blacklists for treason with no coverage by the corporate media.

I apparently have been under the false impression throughout my entire life that expressing my opinion was engaging in democracy which is a fundamental right guaranteed under the United States Constitution.

Now I live in fear that a Nazi Gestapo is watching over my every move, looking for an excuse to disappear me the way so many so-called “terrorists” have been since the 9-11 attacks.

To be clear, this is not hyperbole and this is not sensationalism. Being targeted in the NDAA is by no means a laughing matter. Those who have read my coverage, or the coverage of the blacklisted sites in question know that U.S. citizens have been assassinated or disappeared and locked away in secret C.I.A black sites under the authorization of the NDAA.

No, being targeted by the NDAA is not a trivial matter. It is a matter of very, very serious concern. I am not the only one concerned.

Independent news outlets in the United States are now being listed alongside of Al Qaeda, ISIS and Russia for spreading propaganda for threatening and engaging in warfare against the United States.

The following video from DAHBOO777 is featured in the second link listed directly above. As you’ll learn, the Obama administration re-wrote the United States War Manual back in 2015, and the new manual makes It much easier for soldiers to be able to defend killing journalists.

It’s safe to say the government isn’t going to go after Bill O’Reilly, or Chris Matthews, so you can bet the farm that changing the classification of journalists to “unprivileged belligerents” is targeted at “bloggers,” or “citizen journalists,” essentially those the government can’t control the way they can with the mainstream media. Take a look:

Myself and others who maintain or contribute to independent news outlets are gravely concerned we will soon be targeted for investigations by the government given the recent rhetoric from corporate media, several members of congress, and other government officials alleging we participated in a Russia propaganda campaign to influence the U.S. election and undermine American’s faith in democracy.

The 2016 NDAA, passed into law by both the House and the Senate, has authorized a witch hunt against independent news outlets for doing nothing more than exercising the same first amendment rights that the corporate media has failed to do.

WHY WOULD BOTH HOUSES OF CONGRESS CONTROLLED BY THE GOP PASS SUCH A BILL?

Look no further than an article featured on CONSERVATIVE DAILY POST posted by Michael Kohl titled, GOVERNMENT OVERTHROW: HILLARY CLINTON SECRETLY PAID REPUBLICANS TO DESTROY TRUMP. The article claims that according to a Podesta email released by Wikileaks (email #1078645), six GOP senators were not just opposed to Donald Trump’s candidacy, but they were actively being paid a significant allowance for their assistance in trying to sink it.

A quick search of the Podesta emails took all of two seconds, and revealed that no such email exists. When I notified both the website and RevContent, the advertiser on the site, neither of them cared at all, as long as the money kept flowing in from clicks on the link. Take a look at RevContent’s response:

For those not aware, many of those listed in these blacklists that are now officially targets of the United States government were not listed because they were spreading Russia propaganda or because they were spreading fake news.

Instead, they have been listed for the sole reason that they are competitors of the corporate media and these blacklists are being distributed solely so the corporate media can maintain their monopoly over online internet traffic and the $60 billion a year online advertising industry they control.

These blacklists have a chilling effect on Free Speech. Many on the blacklist do not spread Russia propaganda nor do they spread fake news.

Instead this is a blatant attempt by the corporate media to drive their competitors out of business.

While I have not been specifically named on these blacklists it is only a matter of time before I am.

I have a relationship with several outlets targeted on these blacklists. They have published my material. I have published theirs. They share my material, they link to it, they report on it. I share their material, I link to it and I report on it.

In private conversations, there is a common fear that we are now targets of a new era of cold war era McCarthyism even though the cold war ended decades ago.

We collectively appeal to the ACLU for legal representation as we are being targeted for nothing more than expressing our 1st amendment rights and are being targeted for the same.

Alex Thomas at Intellihub Writes:

A new McCarthyite like list is being promoted across the corporate media after its release by the hidden and extremely biased anonymous group PropOrNot and subsequent promotion by the elites favorite newspaper of record, the Washington Post.

Throughout the last month various corporate news outlets have propagated the pathetic lie that “fake news” is hurting the country and, with the help of Russia, most likely tilted the election in favor of Donald Trump.

From a totally discredited Slate piece to CBS slideshows listing Infowars alongside websites that are openly satire, the war on the alternative media has kicked into a level literally never seen before.

This conspiracy theory type attack on the free press gained an immense amount of steam with the late November release of a Washington Post article by writer Craig Timberg that noted journalist Glenn Greenwald called, “rife with obviously reckless and unproven allegations, and fundamentally shaped by shoddy, slothful journalistic tactics.”

The article promoted this new hard left McCarthyism into the mainstream by extensively detailing and giving credence to the claims of the shadowy and mostly anonymous organization PropOrNot. Take note that the group provided their report to the Post before its actual release, further showing the coordination that has gone into this all out assault on the alternative media:

PropOrNot’s monitoring report, which was provided to The Washington Post in advance of its public release, identifies more than 200 websites as routine peddlers of Russian propaganda during the election season, with combined audiences of at least 15 million Americans. On Facebook, PropOrNot estimates that stories planted or promoted by the disinformation campaign were viewed more than 213 million times.

The video below does an excellent job of explaining what was meant by Google and Facebook when they used the term “fake news” in an article titled, Google, Facebook move to restrict ads on fake news sites. As you can learn by reading that article from Reuters, or by watching the video below, when Google and Facebook coined the term “fake news,” it had nothing to do with censorship

For anyone who doesn’t already know, Google has a service available to website owners called Ad Words. Anyone signed up for Ad Words is given code to insert into their web page, and then Google delivers rotating third party advertisements to the specified area on the page. Then, each time a page is visited, the owner gets paid a few cents by Google out of what Google collected from whoever paid to advertise. Since someone is paying for those ads, it’s obvious why Google would not want to be associated with fraud like that.

The reason Facebook got involved, is because they drive more traffic to news sites than anyone else on earth, so naturally they didn’t want to be associated with fraud either. Originally, the crack down on “fake news” had nothing to do with a sites viewpoint, and everything to do with fraud. Sadly, what started out having nothing to do with censorship, and was actually addressing a legitimate problem, got blown out of proportion by conservative sites for being much more than it was. Now, it’s turned into a self-fulfilling prophecy.

A classic example of a fake news site, ironically enough was on Yahoo’s homepage for the longest time. There was a picture of Colin Kaepernick, and the title said something like, “It’s such a shame he had to go before his time,” implying he had been suddenly killed. Anyone who clicked on the link was then taken to a page that had nothing whatsoever to do with Colin Kaepernick. Despite having nothing to do with what people clicked on the link for, someone was still paying Google to advertise their product or service on the page, and Google was paying the website owner money for fraudulently enticing people to the page.

Some players in this online echo chamber were knowingly part of the propaganda campaign, the researchers concluded, while others were “useful idiots” — a term born of the Cold War to describe people or institutions that unknowingly assisted Soviet Union propaganda efforts.

Apparently in the world of the corporate media elitists the term ‘useful idiot’ now means anyone who doesn’t worship the left and attack Donald Trump in every report.

list

On the groups website the organization has produced what they ironically call, “The List” which basically smears any news outlet that doesn’t solely publish establishment views on U.S. foreign policy as peddlers of Russian propaganda. Not stopping at this absurd defamation, the organization also calls for any website on their list to be investigated by the government for espionage and other, “bad business”.

mccarthyism

That’s right, with their inclusion of Intellihub on, “The List”, PropOrNot is directly calling for Intellihub’s founder Shepard Ambellas as well as writers such as myself to be investigated by the FBI and DOJ in what one can imagine is in retaliation for years of direct assault on the global elite. (Especially for our Guardian featured reporting on Bilderberg in 2012)

Since the release of the list, and despite some push back by actual journalists, the corporate media has continued to hammer home the idea that fake news is a major issue with many outlets publishing their own lists and calling for the social media giants to do something about the “menace” of real reporting.

Simply put, this has very little to do with actual Russian propaganda and much more to do with attempting to destroy independent news outlets at a time when they are being read by millions and millions of people each day. Whether you are a Trump supporter or not, there is no denying the fact that the vast majority of the corporate media was against him and his overwhelming win proved that for millions of Americans, what is said by the likes of CNN or reported by newspapers such as the Washington Post is almost instantly believed to be a lie. What we are seeing with this whole fake news propaganda blitz is a direct response to this.

Note: Perhaps just as important to this attack as the lists themselves is the fact that the corporate media outlets are working hand in hand while most alt-media websites are basically working on their own.
