Are You Overloaded or an Overcomer?

It has been many years now since we moved into the “Information Age.” At that time some with varying degrees of foresight gently warned us of the dangers of information overload. While it is dangerous to remain in ignorance on critical issues, it is just as dangerous to be overwhelmed by excessive information on how quickly our world is falling apart at nearly every level. How frustrating it can be to see so much wrong and seemingly not be able to do anything significant to stop it.

If you spend a lot of time on websites like Sons of Liberty Media, World Net Daily, Health Freedom Alliance, and a number of others, you will find all kinds of information exposing and reproving evil actions of evil people. From Obama to Monsanto, from the FDA to ISIS, from pesticides to suicides, from corruption in the state to corruption in the church, from the government controlled media lies to chemtrails in the skies, from despotism to autism, from persecutions of Christians to exaltations of sodomites, it gets to be too much and too difficult to process in our minds and hearts.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Many of us regularly search for blogs and articles to get the latest serving of bad news and then go on a feeding frenzy. So we become even further enraged, discouraged and depressed while maybe still trying to figure out what we can do to somehow help make a few changes for good. Some of us have grown weary of hitting our heads against the wall in one type of cause or another and have succumbed to the destructive habit of hopelessly fretting “because of evildoers” (Proverbs 37:1).

We are called by God to stand up, continue to rebuke the unfruitful works of darkness and persist in truly being the salt of the earth and the light of the world (Ephesians 5:11; Matthew
5:13-16).

It is always essential to keep in mind we are living in a world that is still under the sovereign and ultimate rule of the living God who created and sustains everything. However, in His permissive will we are also living in the midst of an evil world system that is ruled by Satan, the prince of this world, the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience (John 14:30; Ephesians 2:2).

As human beings originally created in the likeness and image of God (Genesis 1:27), we have all sinned against Him explicitly and implicitly; and thereby given Satan control over our lives, families, economies, institutions, religions, entertainments, and even the very air we breathe and ground we walk upon. So, now we simply are reaping the deadly harvest from the noxious seed sown by untold generations past, and by our own, who chose to live and are living in rebellion against the authority, word, mercy and grace of Almighty God.

“There be many that say, Who will show us any good?” (Psalm 4:6)

The worst of all the bad news is that people without Christ are lost. The good news is that whosoever will repent and believe the gospel, calling on the name of the Lord, shall be saved! (Mark 1:15; Romans 10:13)

If you are a true follower of Jesus Christ, then you are in the world but not of it (John 17:16). You and I have been given a wonderful assignment to complete. Our great business in these evil days is the same as Jesus gave it over 2,000 years ago. We are called to love Lord, love people with His love (Matthew 22: 36-40), make disciples (Matthew 28:18-20), speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15).

And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.” Matthew 10:7-8

We are not to be overwhelmed by all the bad news and give in to fear.

“..the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance. He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.” Psalm 112:6b-7

The daily avalanches of bad news actually provide us with countless opportunities to share the good news, the best news ever! Jesus Christ, the Son of God, has come to earth to pay the price for our sins, to set us free to love Him and love one another in the midst of this present evil world. No matter how much evil is on the world scene, it’s always the right time to declare and demonstrate His truth, love, mercy and grace. Let’s do in His power it every day!

“Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.” Romans 12:21
