Praying Scriptures for and in the New Year
Prayer: Lord, I’m praying for _________ and asking You to fill him/her with the knowledge of Your will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And I pray this in order that _______ may live a life worthy of You, Lord, and may please You in every way, bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of You, God, being strengthened with all power according to Your glorious might so that he/she may have a great endurance and patience, joyfully giving thanks to You, Father, Who has qualified him/her to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.
Praise to You, Lord, for You have rescued from the dominion of darkness those who believe and brought us into the kingdom of the Son, Whom You love, and in Whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Amen (Colossians 1:9-14).
Prayer: Lord, I give You thanks for ________, and remember him/her in our prayers. I am asking You, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, to give him/her the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that he/she may know You better. I pray also that the eyes of his/her heart may be enlightened in order that he/she may know the hope to which You have called him/her, as well as the riches of Your glorious inheritance in the saints, and Your incomparable great power in us who believe.
Praise to You, Lord, for that power which is like the working of Your mighty strength, which You exerted in Christ when You raised Him from the dead and seated Him at Your right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And You, God, placed all things under His feet and appointed Him to be head over everything for the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him Who fills everything in every way (Ephesians 1:17-23).
Prayer: And this is my prayer: that ________‘s love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that he/she may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God (Philippians 1:9-11).
Prayer: Heavenly Father, from Whom Your whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of Your glorious riches You will strengthen ________ with power through Your Spirit in his/her inner being, so that Christ may dwell in his/her heart through faith. And I pray that _______, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that he/she may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
Praise to You, Lord, Who are able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to Your power that is at work within us, to You be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen (Ephesians 3:14-30).
Prayer: Lord, You tell us to call unto You and You will answer us and show us great and mighty things which we do not know. So Lord I’m calling on You and asking You to show _______ great and mighty things he/she does not know and may he/she give You the thanks because he/she knows this comes from You (Jeremiah 33:3).
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
