Rand Paul Puts DNC Chair on Her Heels: Is it okay to kill a 7-pound baby in the uterus? When are You Willing to Protect Life?

During a wide ranging press conference from New Hampshire where he was asked a number of diverse questions, Rand Paul proved to this voter that he’s ready for the big time. He fielded questions on the budget, Iran, Hillary Clinton and her scandals, religious freedom, the Common Core and Abortion. I believe that his responses and his repartee with the reporters show that he is ready to answer these and other questions on a bigger, more brightly lit stage.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

I’d like to land on the issue that has always been a litmus test for me with any state or federal candidate: abortion. There was a time when I said that abortion wasn’t the only thing I looked at, but it is important… and I’ve come to realize over the last few elections that abortion is an even more important issue to me than I understood way back when. Which is why I like our 2016 Republican field so much — the handful of candidates that I most strongly support are all champions of life and they’ve proved it time and again with their votes and their rhetoric.

Rand Paul, however, took it to a new level during his press conference in New Hampshire when he turned the tables on the DNC and turned their “gotcha” question into a new tactic for the GOP. For years our candidates have suffered under the “gotcha” abortion questions, struggling to parse their language so as not to offend potential voters… and usually failing. However, Rand Paul has now given us the opportunity to turn this into a “gotcha” question for the Democrats by unmasking just how fanatically pro-baby murder the liberals really are.

If you begin the video at about 8:00, you’ll hear a reporter ask Senator Paul about abortion and the exemptions that he believes should be allowed. Senator Paul doesn’t answer (which probably bugs some of you, but he’s already articulated his beliefs on these things in the past); what he does do is ask the reporter to go and ask some very specific questions of Democrat candidates and the Democrat National Committee and their leader Debbie Wasserman Schultz. ‘What’s the DNC say? Is it okay to kill a 7-pound baby in the uterus? Ask Debbie Wasserman Schultz when life begins and when she’s willing to protect life? When you get an answer then come back to me.’

It was a masterstroke from Rand Paul. If the DNC responds, it unmasks their fanatical devotion to abortion. If they don’t respond, then neither should Republicans. Why should the conversations only be happening on one side of the abortion debate?

Well, Debbie did respond, and she responded in epic fashion, basically saying that there should be no restrictions on abortion at all, ever, period.

So now the natural question is this – is this what the Democrat Party believes? Because it isn’t what America believes. Rand Paul’s tactic on abortion just unmasked the leader of the DNC and should prove that, on the abortion issue, it’s the Democrats who are the fanatics — not the Republicans. The vast majority of Americans believe that late term abortions should be banned, the vast majority believe that abortion does become murder at a certain point in the pregnancy. Sure, the American opinion on this issue may be split in general… but it’s not split on late term abortion.

From Bloomberg News:

Paul was smart enough to force the media to place scrutiny on the Democrats’ hard cases on abortion,” surmised Scott McKay, the publisher of the Louisiana conservative politics site the Hayride. “No Republican should ever get an abortion question without parroting everything he just said.”

I hope the other GOP candidates pick up on this and begin responding in a similar manner, picking out other Democrat leaders like Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, Hillary Clinton, etc. We know that we have some true pro-life champions on our side; now we should see if the Democrat leaders are similarly willing to champion the cause of death. It could make for some interesting political theatre.
