Remember When China Attempted To Aid Bill Clinton’s Election & Democrats Were Silent?

With all of the allegations about Russia influencing the elections to favor Trump with virtually no evidence of those allegations, former adviser to President Bill Clinton, Dick Morris, reminds us of the Democrats’ hypocrisy of silence when the Chinese tried to aid Clinton in being elected in 1996.

“The hypocrisy of the howls of outrage we’re hearing from the Democrats about the Russians intervening in the US election, even if it did not involve Trump, are really kind of funny,” Morris, who advised Clinton as Governor of Arkansas and after his election to the presidency in 1992, said this week.  “Because in 1996, there was a tremendous intervention in the US election by the Chinese government, army and military and intelligence agencies.”

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

“This came out after the election and there was not a peep about impeachment over that,” added Morris.  “There was not a peep about a special prosecutor.”

Morris then retracted that to state there was a “peep” about a special prosecutor, but Clinton wouldn’t name one nor did the Democrats force him to do it.

In the election of 1996, the Chinese were funneling massive amounts of cash into the Clinton campaign.  Morris named Charlie Trie, a longtime friend of the Clintons who gave over $250,000 to the Clinton legal defense fund and even more to the Clinton campaign.  Most of that money was returned, or at least it was claimed to have been returned, but not at the time it was given.

Trie was mentioned in the news just last year following the suspicious death of former head of the United Nations General Assembly John Ashe.  At that time, I reported:

“Ashe was due in court Monday with his Chinese businessman co-defendant Ng Lap Seng, who is charged with smuggling $4.5 million into the US since 2013 and lying that it was to buy art and casino chips.”

Who is Seng? According to a 1998 Senate report, he illegally funneled hundreds of thousands of dollars through Charlie Trie, an Arkansas restaurant owner, to the Democratic National Committee during the Clinton administration. However, he was never charged with a crime.

[Richard] Johnson believes that many will see similarities in the death of Vince Foster and John Ashe and sees his death as “conveniently timed.” He wrote:

The death by barbell of disgraced UN official John Ashe could become a bigger obsession for conspiracy theorists than Vince Foster’s 1993 suicide.

Ng and Trie had visited the White House several times for Democratic fundraising events and were photographed with then-President Bill Clinton and first lady Hillary Clinton.

One source told me, “During the trial, the prosecutors would have linked Ashe to the Clinton bagman Ng. It would have been very embarrassing. His death was conveniently timed.”

Ashe’s lawyer Jeremy Schneider told me he is sure Ashe’s death was an accident. “There is not one iota of evidence that it was homicide. This is nothing at all like Vince Foster.”

Trie was arrested in 2015 in a campaign finance scandal during the Clinton administration, on charges he lied about why he brought more than $4.5 million in cash into the United States during the previous two years.

Another donor Morris mentioned was Wang Jun, a Chinese arms dealer, who worked in the Ron Brown controlled Commerce Department.  He benefited greatly from many of Clinton’s waivers for four US satellites to be launched by Chinese rockets.  Jun held a huge stake in China International Trade and Investment Corporation.

“In the Commerce Department, his job was to facilitate US/Chinese trade in business relations,” Morris said.  “He took advantage of that position to develop huge financial resources for Clinton from the Chinese government.”

Jun also made numerous visits to the Clinton White House.

“There was a clear effort by the Chinese intelligence and military complex to fund the Bill Clinton campaign giving over $1 million in donations, some routed through a fundraiser at a Buddhist temple that Al Gore attended, some routed through the guys we just talked about (Trie and Jun),” said Morris.

“But nobody talked about impeachment,” added Morris.

The focus was merely on whether or not the money was legal or not because it was illegal for a foreign citizen to give money to a campaign.

The issue was not “on the underlying issue of why China wanted to elect Bill Clinton, What they got in return for it, and was Clinton in cahoots with the Chinese leadership,” according to Morris.

None of what is being thrown at President Donald Trump was leveled at Bill Clinton.  Still, there is no evidence that Trump got one single cent from the Russians, but we do have evidence that Clinton campaign head John Podesta did profit from his ties to Russia, and we’ve just reported that Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) is also profiting from her Russian investments.

Oh, the Democrat hypocrisy!
