Republican Deserters

DESERTER, noun A person who forsakes his cause, his post, or his party or friend; particularly, a soldier or seaman who quits the service without permission, and in violation of his engagement. (Webster’s 1828 American Dictionary of the English Language)

On Friday December 18, 2015, the majority party in the United States House of Representatives confounded fiscal sanity in a 150-95 vote in support of the $1.8 trillion 2016 Omnibus Spending Bill. Once again, Republicans vacated the power of the purse and extended the Obama Administration’s “long train of abuses and usurpations,” which, by any reasonable standard, “evince a design to reduce” the American people “under absolute despotism.”

What possessed 150 Republicans to break rank and expand the most profligate Federal Bureacracy in American history? Certainly not prudence. What justifies further diminution of our unalienable rights, and undermining of national security, to wit fully funding the settlement of thousands of Sunni “refugees” in our communities, without our consent?

Had Republican Deserters paid close attention to the photographs of Syrian “refugees” flooding Europe, they might have asked why so many of them are men—more than seventy percent, draft-aged men—before bankrolling the Hijra into America (jihad by emigration). Dr. Robert Spencer, one of the world’s foremost authorities on Islamic Law (sharia), writes:

Hijrah, or jihad by emigration, is, according to Islamic tradition, the migration or journey of Muhammad and his followers from Mecca to Yathrib, later renamed by him to Medina, in the year 622 CE. It was after the hijrah that Muhammad for the first time became not just a preacher of religious ideas, but a political and military leader. That was what occasioned his new “revelations” exhorting his followers to commit violence against unbelievers…To emigrate in the cause of Allah–that is, to move to a new land in order to bring Islam there, is considered in Islam to be a highly meritorious act. “And whoever emigrates for the cause of Allah will find on the earth many locations and abundance…” (Qur’an 4:100)

Did Republican Deserters know when they voted to bankroll the importation of thousands of Sunni “refugees” that 2016 marks the beginning of the sixth phase of al Qaeda’s 20-year plan to impose Islamic Law on every jurisdiction in the West? ISIS’ faithful understand Phase Six to entail “Total Confrontation” with the West. The attacks in Paris in November and San Bernardino earlier this month, were a preview of what is to come; perhaps a bit premature, but like most movements, ISIS has die-hard enthusiasts who can’t wait for the “show” to begin.

When Republican Deserters empowered our imperial President, did they know that Phase Five met a precondition for the launch of Phase Six—reestablishment of the Islamic State? That goal that was met on June 29, 2014 when ISIS (a.k.a. the “Islamic State”) announced the formation of a worldwide caliphate and Abu Bakr al Baghdadi its caliph. Armed with this little al-Qaeda factoid, Republicans might have understood the Obama administration’s unwavering support for the “Arab Spring”—to wit pressuring Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to step down, and lending U.S. Military support to the overthrow of Libyan dictator Muammar al-Qaddafi—as aiding and abetting the Islamic State, perhaps they would have refrained from fully funding the American Spring. America’s “refugee” quandary isn’t an exodus. It is an invasion that will cause us to forget San Bernardino.

Is the business of Government merely a secular enterprise, exempt from Divine scrutiny? The “preacher” of Ecclesiastes didn’t think so. “Fear God and keep his commandments,” wrote he, “for this is the whole duty of man.” (Eccl. 12:13) The next verse should give pause to rationalized Republican votes—“For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.” (v. 14) The secrets men carry to the grave will be their accusers on that Dreadful Day, and there is no respect of persons.

Did not Jesus say that men will give an account in the Day of Judgment for every idle word? (Matthew 12:36) How much more, every greedy, narcissistic, avaricious, self-aggrandizing vote!

The late Senator Jesse Helms once said, “I will not sell my soul for a seat in the United States Senate.” The Senator must have known that temporal wealth and notoriety are of little use in the place where one’s “fire is not quenched and one’s worm does not die.” (Mark 9:44)

Senator Helms proved courageous in standing for what is right, even if it meant obscurity. He, being dead, yet speaks. The “Lion of the Senate” sat in a place of honor, and he being dead yet speaks, or more fittingly, “roars” from his place of eternal torment. Oh that he could return for an hour to warn his former colleagues in the House and Senate, “Do not come to this place!”

The preacher of Ecclesiastes also wrote, “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven … a time to mourn, and a time to dance … a time to keep silence, and a time to speak … a time of war, and a time of peace.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8) For the last seven years, patriotic Americans have mourned, spoken ad nauseum, and fought valiantly to “secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and to our Posterity,” while the men and women we elected to bring us a time of peace and a time to dance, have deserted us on the battlefield for the other side.
