Roy Moore Bests Luther Strange in Alabama GOP Senate Runoff Election

In what is an obvious slap in the face to the DC establishment, Judge Roy Moore, the Ten Commandments judge” defeated Senator Luther Strange (R-AL) in a Senate primary election on Tuesday night.

While President Donald Trump backed Strange out of loyalty, he began to question his judgment late in the race.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

“Both are good men,” Trump said, adding, “Luther will definitely win … Roy has a very good chance of not winning in the general election.”

Apparently, President Trump doesn’t understand what got him in the White House.  It wasn’t kowtowing to the establishment, and Trump should know that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell cannot be trusted because he is very much a part of the very swamp that Trump claims he wants to drain.

Trump admitted on Friday that he may have made a mistake in endorsing Strange saying, “We have to be loyal in life.  There is something called loyalty, and I might have made a mistake and I’ll be honest, I might have made a mistake.”

Yes, it as a mistake, but Trump has also said that if Moore won the primary he would “campaign like hell” for him.  I expect he will remain loyal to that.

As for Moore, take a listen to his victory speech.

Moore said that he had spoken to several senators that had backed him, such as Senators Rand Paul (R-KY), Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Mike Lee (R-UT).

“Together we can make America great,” thundered Moore.

“We can support the president,” Moore added.  “Don’t let anybody in the press that because he supported my opponent that I do not support him and support his agenda.”

Moore then stated an important qualifier to that support.

“As long as it’s constitutional, as long as it advances our society, our culture, our country, I will be supportive,” he said.

Moore then added, “But we have to return the knowledge of God and the Constitution of the united States to the united States Congress.”

Amen!  That is the only basis to support a president, be it a Democrat or a Republican, and Republicans need to learn that just as much as Democrats.  Party jerseys are not necessarily to be supported, but the standard is to be supported.

Former Trump advisor and Breitbart News Executive Chairman Steve Bannon predicted that more and more states would see the people rise above the money that is being thrown at establishment Republicans and others like Moore would be defeating them.

“You’re going to see, in state after state after state, people that follow the model of Judge Moore that do not need to raise money from the elites,” he said at Moore’s victory party Tuesday night.

“Who’s sovereign, the people or the money?” Bannon asked. “The people of Alabama just answered: the people.”

American Conservative Union chairman Matt Schlapp said on Monday night virtually the same thing that Bannon did on Tuesday evening.

“The days have come to an end where the muscle and money from the majority can push through candidates in this new political environment,” said Schlapp.

“The messenger is the message,” Schlapp added.  “And if the messenger lacks credibility, then the message will lack credibility.”

As for Strange, he said, “He was Mitch’s boy and he was the governor’s boy.”

Still, many media outlets are putting the worst possible spin on Moore’s victory.

The New York Daily News said that Moore’s victory will have “ripple effects throughout the country,” settting a “tone for next year’s midterm season.”

What tone is that?

According to the NYDN, it could “spell defeat for some Republicans next year.”

Of course, they put that on the account that trump backed the establishment’s candidate.

They were not the only outlet voicing opposition to Moore’s win.

CNN attempted to fabricate a story that Trump was “infuriated” for backing “Alabama loser.”

The fake news network reported that after watching Fox News call the race for Moore, Trump engaged in “a barrage of angry venting at his political team and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who had consolidated establishment GOP support behind Strange.”

“Trump, officials and informal advisers say, felt misled by McConnell and his political team, who encouraged him to endorse and campaign for Strange,” the report added.

They never name one source.

While Trump did delete all his pro-Strange tweets, he came out positive as he said he would for Judge Moore.

“Spoke to Roy Moore of Alabama last night for the first time,” Trump tweeted.  “Sounds like a really great guy who ran a fantastic race. He will help to !”

“Congratulations to Roy Moore on his Republican Primary win in Alabama. Luther Strange started way back & ran a good race. Roy, WIN in Dec!” Trump added.

One person that was not afraid to speak about what took place was Kellyanne Conway, Trump’s counselor.

“The result was not unexpected, and even though polls are often wrong, the result was not unexpected,” Conway said.

“I think that this is an extension of what we saw last year, which is that when some voters have a chance to vote against Washington and the establishment, they will do exactly that, especially after we haven’t had a lot of legislative victories,” Conway told CNN.

“It’s actually a vindication for Trumpism because it’s very much what happened last year to President Trump,” she added.

I’ll agree with that point.

In many respects, the people are sick and tired of men who say they’ll obey the Constitution and defend the people’s rights and then turn right around and betray them after they kiss them.

Judge Moore is not a stranger to controversy nor has he not been tried and tested to see what kind of metal he is made of.  He is the author of three books that outline his legal opinion that the United States was founded as a Christian nation that ultimately answered to the “laws of nature and nature’s God,” a phrase contained in the Declaration of Independence.

While Judge Roy Moore lost his job for keeping his oath of office, Luther Strange kept his job by betraying it.

Congratulations Alabama!  You’ve got the real deal in Roy Moore for what you profess to believe.  Don’t blow it in the general election.
