San Francisco’s Intolerance: Votes to Urge Catholic Schools to be Tolerant of Teachers Not Teaching Catholic Doctrine

I want to state from the very outset that I am not Roman Catholic. I disagree with almost every major doctrine the Roman Catholic Church has. So I am not their biggest fans by any stretch of the imagination. However, it is one thing to misunderstand the Bible and another to be too stupid to see that you’re illogical. You see, though I think that the Roman Catholic Church holds to many false doctrines, they are not illogical. But a group of their teachers and the City of San Francisco are very much illogical.

Fox reports:

The Archdiocese of San Francisco is under attack from the San Francisco Board of Supervisors for insisting that Catholic schools teach Catholic doctrine.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

This all began over morality clauses in faculty handbooks. Apparently, Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone wants teachers teaching at the Catholic schools in his Archdiocese to actually hold and live out Catholic morality. The backlash began with the faculty of the four Catholic schools in the San Francisco area.

The Huffington Post reports:

Teachers and staff from four Catholic High Schools in the San Francisco Bay Area are urging their archbishop to remove morality clauses from the faculty handbook.

And,

The language “undermines the mission of Catholic education and the inclusive, diverse and welcoming community we prize at our schools,” said Jordan, who is an English teacher in San Francisco’s Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory.

Now, this is the first illogical thought process. Here is a Roman Catholic teacher telling the world that holding to Roman Catholic morality is counterproductive to the Roman Catholic mission of education. You see, Jordan does not want a Roman Catholic educational system. Jordan wants everyone’s actions to be accepted as moral. But does Jordan not realize that there should be a standard for Roman Catholic teachers. Why, if you were Roman Catholic, would you spend thousands of dollars to send your kids to a Roman Catholic school?  Is it not that they would be taught in a Roman Catholic environment?

Now the City of San Francisco has gotten involved.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports:

In a rebuke to the archbishop of San Francisco, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors unanimously passed a resolution Tuesday urging the conservative Catholic leader to respect the rights of teachers and administrators.

And

“These actions really conflict with the values of San Francisco,” said Supervisor Mark Farrell, who introduced the resolution. “In San Francisco, we stand up for everyone. We stand up for our LGBT community and honor and embrace those who do the same.”

Here is the second illogical statement concerning this issue. Where in San Francisco is the value to stand up for the right of Roman Catholic schools to practice what they believe? If San Francisco stands up for everyone, why are they not standing up for Roman Catholics? The reason is that the Roman Catholic is seen as being intolerant. But is it not these teachers and politicians who are being intolerant.

They have essentially said: “Accept everyone, unless they do not accept everyone.”  Why is it that these people are blind to their own hypocrisy?  How has everyone missed that the tolerance movement is the most intolerant movement in history?

All this and I have not mentioned the City overstepping its area of authority.

What is it going to take for us to see that there is no standard if God’s Word is not the standard?
