Senate Homeland Security Chair: CIA Refused to Provide Us with a Briefing on Russian Hacking

“We’ll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false.”? –CIA Director William Casey, February 1981

Well, of course not. The CIA is headed by a Muslim convert stooge named John Brennan now. As such, the fake news about Russian hacking of election and hacking by Russia in general in the united States was nothing more than an attempt to help Hillary Clinton limp into the White House and take aim at the press who reports what the state-controlled media won’t.

According to a press release from the US Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs:

WASHINGTON — Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, had this to say following news that the CIA refused to provide a briefing on the issue of Russian hacking in the United States.

“The cyberattack capabilities of America’s rivals and adversaries are significant and represent a real and growing threat to our security and world peace and stability. As chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, I returned to Washington this week and requested the CIA to provide a briefing on Russia’s cyber capabilities and its involvement with the U.S. presidential election. The CIA refused this request. It is disappointing that the CIA would provide information on this issue to the Washington Post and NBC but will not provide information to elected members of Congress.”

Well, while I agree with Rep. Johnson’s sentiments about giving the information to outlets like WaPo and NBC, the reality is that it is the committee’s job to have demanded that information. So, I ask, why did you not request it when the news had been out for some time?

Interestingly enough, Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon, acquired The Washington Post in 2013 and has a very special relationship with the CIA now.

The Nation reported:

“[Jeff Bezos] recently secured a $600 million contract from the CIA. That’s at least twice what Bezos paid for the Post this year. Bezos recently disclosed that the company’s Web-services business is building a ‘private cloud’ for the CIA to use for its data needs.”

Carey Wedler reports on more of what took place at the time.

As this occurred, a petition calling on the Washington Post to disclose its new ties to the CIA when reporting on the agency garnered 30,000 signatures. According to the RootsforAction petition:

“The Post often does reporting on CIA activities. The coverage should include full disclosure that the owner of the Washington Post is also the main owner of Amazon — and Amazon is now gaining huge profits directly from the CIA.”

Robert McChesney of the Institute for Public Accuracy pointed out the glaring conflict of interest:

“If some official enemy of the United States had a comparable situation—say the owner of the dominant newspaper in Caracas was getting $600 million in secretive contracts from the Maduro government—the Post itself would lead the howling chorus impaling that newspaper and that government for making a mockery of a free press. It is time for the Post to take a dose of its own medicine.”

In 1977, Carl Bernstein, former Post journalist and author of All the President’s Men, pointed out how the CIA was attempting to infiltrate the media. At least 400 journalists were involved.

“Journalists provided a full range of clandestine services—from simple intelligence gathering to serving as go betweens with spies in Communist countries. Reporters shared their notebooks with the CIA. Editors shared their staffs. Some of the journalists were Pulitzer Prize winners, distinguished reporters who considered themselves ambassadors without portfolio for their country…In many instances, CIA documents show, journalists were engaged to perform tasks for the CIA with the consent of the managements of America’s leading news organizations.”

Bernstein was not the first. Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Tim Weiner wrote about the CIA’s first official chief, Allen Dulles, in his book Legacy of Ashes.

“Dulles kept in close touch with the men who ran the New York Times, The Washington Post, and the nation’s leading weekly magazines. He could pick up the phone and edit a breaking story, make sure an irritating foreign correspondent was yanked from the field, or hire the services of men such as Time’s Berlin bureau chief and Newsweek’s man in Tokyo.”

“It was second nature for Dulles to plant stories in the press. American newsrooms were dominated by veterans of the government’s wartime propaganda branch, the Office of War Information.”

I highly recommend reading Wedler’s article on the subject as it is fascinating what the CIA has been involved in as they’ve attempted to manipulate the American public via the media. As far as I’m concerned, they are an unconstitutional agency and in doing this kind of thing on American soil, they are in violation of jurisdiction that was usurped to give to them. Looks like Casey’s prediction is pretty close to coming true, if it were not for alternative media.
