Senior White house adviser Kellyanne Conway appeared in an interview on Fox News with Judge Jeanine Pirro and challenged FBI Director James Comey to release the information they have on the allegations made by President Donald Trump that Barack Hussein Obama Soetoro Sobarkah wiretapped Trump Tower during the 2016 presidential election.
Conway was asked if Trump knows the answer to the question about whether or not he was wiretapped. Conway did not acknowledge that question with an affirmative “yes,” but said, “He may,” and went on to add that he receives different intelligence than everyone else.
She then pointed out that the media is so hyped up over allegations regarding members of the Trump administration and Russia, but adds that the allegations regarding wiretapping are just a serious, if not more. So, why are they not being added to the list of investigations?
Conway claims that these leaks that have been coming out since the presidential campaign are leftovers from the Obama administration. She did not name any names though. While I would not put it past the Obama administration to do such a thing and use insiders to sabotage a Trump presidency, who exactly are the leakers being mentioned? Furthermore, I don’t think either Jeff Sessions nor Michael Flynn‘s contact with the Russians is a “national security” issue.
Pirro referred to “open source reporting” regarding Trump’s claim of wiretapping. She then asked if that is the case, would it not then follow that Trump can issue an order to declassify the warrant and prove his point? Why is he then pushing the issue onto the Democrats?
Conway said he’s not doing that.
She referenced that this might take away the Democrats’ mantra of shouting “Russia, Russia,” and pointed to former Director of Intelligence James Clapper‘s claim that the leaks may have come from an area that is out from under Trump’s authority, meaning someone in state government.
However, Trump has simply said it was possible that the leaks came from Obama leftovers.
The only way to be sure is to have the FBI release a warrant for a wiretap.
Pirro asked if a constitutional crisis was developing as Trump is accusing a former usurping president of criminal actions based on open source reporting as the FBI asked the Justice Department to push back against Trump’s allegations.
“If Mr. Comey has something he’d like to say I’m sure we’re all willing to hear it,” Conway told Pirro. “All I saw was a published news report. I didn’t see a statement from him. I don’t know what Mr. Comey knows.”
“If he knows, of course, he can issue a statement,” Conway added. “We know he’s not shy.”
Pirro says the Comey would know either way since the Title III claim is in his criminal division and he would also know from the counter-terrorism division, as well.
Keep in mind, this is the same guy that said former Secretary Hillary Clinton broke the law with her illegal private email server, but would not recommend prosecuting her.
Conway then pointed to the double standard of the media when it comes to anonymous sources. She said that when it seems derogatory to Trump the media runs with it, but if it is positive, they just don’t want to hear it.
I think the bigger picture that everyone is missing is this, and that is the same issue that came up with the NSA was listening in on the Senate cloakroom. Remember that? Remember how Rep. Justin Amash called her out on her hypocrisy?
“She has had no problem with U.S. intelligence agencies, like the #NSA, violating the Constitution by spying on hundreds of millions of Americans without probable cause,” he wrote. “This kind of hypocrisy is one of the biggest reasons the public can’t stand Congress.”
The same thing is going on here. Trump may be correct about the wiretapping and the leaks. However, what should be focused on is not the violation of just those in the Trump administration’s rights by the Deep State, but also the rights of every, single American by the Deep State.
Now, the question is Mr. President, what are you going to do about it?
