Steny Hoyer: Sodomites are “Endowed by God” with Right to Marry

When looking at the “occupants” of both chambers of the legislative branch in Washington, it is easy to conclude they “politic” incessantly, talk to hear the sounds of their own voice, and could care less about truly governing this nation. Instead of addressing critical issues, some get on the floor of the House to attempt to argue that sodomite couples are “endowed by their Creator — God” with a right to marry. The Constitution does not give authority to the federal government regarding marriage; but, when has the Constitution ever meant anything to the charlatans occupying space in the House and Senate.

House Democratic Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD) took to the House floor to argue the Declaration of Independence supported same-sex marriage.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Hoyer stated:

“Our Declaration of Independence, as all of us quote so often, says: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men’ – of course, if Jefferson were writing today, it would be either all people or all mankind – ‘are created equal, that they are endowed by’ – not a Congress, not by a Constitution, not by a will of the majority – ‘their Creator’ – by God – ‘with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.'”

“That, of course, has not always been America’s performance, notwithstanding it has been its promise. Next week, the highest court in our land will be asked to consider whether these words apply to same-sex couples who love one another. Many courts have already said that it does.”

“Born equal, endowed by God with certain unalienable rights, and among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Is there a happier time in one’s life than when one pledges themselves to another? We all gather, we all celebrate, we all wish them well. LGBT Americans now have the right to marry and have their families treated equally in 37 States and the District of Columbia. In the remaining States, however, LGBT residents are watching the Supreme Court with great anticipation.”

“We need to bring those words of the Declaration of Independence closer to their full realization, Mr. Speaker. Hopefully, the court will do that.”

One has to love how the charlatan Hoyer points to the Declaration of Independence and its self-evident truths, then proceeds to butcher the meaning of “pursuit of happiness” – a tradition among Democrats it seems. Pelosi butchered that phrase when it came to “everything Congress does.” In a previous article at Freedom Outpost, it was discussed what the intent of the phrase “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” actually meant. What Hoyer left out was the first paragraph of the Declaration of Independence that leads into the self-evident truths.

When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

The Declaration of Independence cited the “separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them….” The authors of the Declaration of Independence pointed to the Laws of Nature and Nature’s God – God, the Father, the Son, and The Holy Ghost. God, as the source of law, has delineated the law and His commandments through the Holy Word of God, the Bible. There is no need to go into God’s word on sodomy. It is perfectly clear and has been discussed. Nor is there any need to go into the definition of marriage as God has commanded what is marriage. What it comes down to is acceptance of God’s Word or denial of it.

Marriage was not instituted by government. It is called “Holy Matrimony” not “Bureaucratic Union.” Government has no business in marriage, period.

Hoyer contended that it is “marriage equality” that is at stake. He stated that marriage equality means “spousal benefits for those who share their lives with and care for their same-sex partners.”

Basically, that’s code for disseminating “government” or employer benefits, such as Social Security, health care plans, etc. Are we not all free to establish a will in order to direct what will happen to our worldly possessions when we die? Are we not all free and equal to assign a beneficiary to our life insurance policy and accidental death and dismemberment policies? Spouses are not the only individuals that can be designated to receive those benefits. Benefits are perks offered, not a right to be protected.

He also stated, “Marriage equality will mean that same-sex couples, Mr. Speaker, can make medical and end-of-life decisions for their loved one.”

Mr. Hoyer does not realize that there is a Durable Power of Attorney for Healthcare and a Living Will where those decisions can be made and an individual chosen to make those decisions – it could be a friend, family member or a spouse. Those are available to all individuals and accomplish being able to make medical and end-of-life decisions for a “loved one.” This is a non-issue.

What is not being said here by Hoyer is that government’s intent is not to “support” society; but, to tear a portion of society down by ripping through its foundation – its moral code. If, or once, government decides sodomite unions are acceptable, they can begin to further attack Christianity by “demanding” the Church abandon the teachings of the Bible and the Word of God not only on this issue, but others as well, citing some protection of a “perceived” right. Americans are already witness to this with the ferocity the government and media have used in attacking Christians that own businesses for following God’s laws and commandments.

In other words, government wants to be in the business of granting rights, deciding what a right is and what is not, and enforcing the rights it grants. Government wants to be a god; well, those in government want to be gods. Rights come from the one and only, true, living God and government’s job is to secure those rights He has given. It has done a poor job.

When government decides that the murder of innocent babies in the womb is a “woman’s right,” that government has ceased being credible since it has violated its duty to “secure” life for the most helpless. God commanded, “Thou shalt not murder.” The government says, “It’s okay if you are a woman and with child.”

It escapes Hoyer that not everything is a right and our federal government was charged with the protection of the unalienable rights as it relates to life (the right to live), liberty (being free of oppression by tyrannical government), and the pursuit of happiness (ability to direct our lives without interference from others) which is why the enumerated powers were established – to delineate what constituted federal authority. Government is not charged with “defining” marriage as that has already been commanded by God. And according to the Declaration of Independence, which Democrats love to quote as of late, this country assumed “among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God” entitled us.

In nature, there is male and female, made by God. They were made to cleave to one another. Simply put, you can’t join together two different sections of pipe using two male or two female fittings.
