A Californian Muslim has murdered his mother, but following the murder, he cut open her chest, removed her heart and then masturbated on her dead body.
Omar Mark Pettigen, 31, shared an apartment with his mother, Nailah Pettigen, 64, a former American High School teacher.
Pettigen says that his mother had been killing herself with the prescription painkiller oxycodone. His mother had apparently been addicted to the drug following surgery and hip and knee problems.
The two apparently got into an argument in Ms. Pettigen’s room and she pointed a gun at him, according to the Pettigen. He then said he grabbed a hammer and knocked the gun from her and then left the room.
Moments later, he returned with a tomahawk and proceeded to bludgeon his mother. Then he retrieved a revolver from a closet and shot her in the back four times, though an autopsy of the mother shows she had been shot at least seven times.
He then proceeded to slice open her chest, remove her heart and then put it back. As if this isn’t disturbing enough, according to documents, Pettigen then masturbated saying that “he needed to be with himself and needed a release after the event.”
One has to wonder if this was some sort of honor killing. It does have certain elements to it for sure.
Did he feel any remorse at all? Nope.
In fact, he went out for a few beers with friends in the San Francisco Bay area following the sickening crime, and then booked an airline ticket for Chicago.
Police captured him following his father, who lives in New Mexico, asked them to perform a welfare check on the residence since neither the son or Ms. Pettigen had been heard from. The grisly scene the police discovered was even more nauseating than what was described above.
How do men do such depraved things? Especially to a woman that gave them life? Indeed, the Scriptures are clear, “”The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9). Therefore, the writer of Proverbs admonishes, “Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:23).
Now, we must seek a solution to this particular situation. Pettigen has confessed to a capital crime. He was happy about committing the crime and enjoyed it. He is unrepentant. As far as I’m concerned, I don’t even see a need for a trial. He has confessed himself, even as Achan did in Joshua 7:19-20, but there was not pity, even though Achan confessed his crime was against God. The people put him to death. Such should be the end of Mr. Pettigen and it should be done out in the open for all to see and so that all might fear going down the same road of crime that he did.
