Watergate Reporter: Obama Admin Unmasking Trump Transition Team “Gross Violation,” “Could be Criminal”

The Washington Post’s Watergate reporter Bob Woodward commented last week that people inside the Obama administration could face criminal charges for unmasking the names of Trump transition team members from surveillance of foreign officials.

Woodward called it a “gross violation” and said it “could be criminal.”

“It is not what Trump said [about the wiretap], but apparently what has happened here is a couple of diplomats who can be legitimately wiretapped, were talking about meeting with Trump or people on his transition team — and, of course, you can learn all kinds of things from diplomats gossiping, because that is what occurs,” Woodward said during a Fox News interview.  “Under the rules –and they’re pretty strict– you are supposed to, it is called minimization, you don’t name the American person who is being discussed.”

“There are 20 people in the intelligence community for intelligence reasons can say ‘okay, we need to unmask or take the minimization off of these names,” he added.

“But the idea that there was intelligence value here is really thin,” he continued.  “It’s, again, down the middle, it is not what Trump said, but this could be criminal on the part of people who decided, oh, let’s name these people. Under the rules, that name is supposed to be blanked out, and so you’ve got a real serious problem potentially of people in the Obama administration passing around this highly classified gossip.”

Woodward was commenting on Rep. Devon Nunes (R-CA) who briefed President Donald Trump on information that suggests that he and members of his transition team may have had their identities “unmasked” after their communications gathered in what is being called an “incidental collection.”

“What I have read bothers me and I think it should bother the president himself and his team, because I think some of it seems to be inappropriate,” Nunes told reporters.

“There are dozens of reports that I was able to see,” Nunes said. “There were additional unmaskings that occurred.”

While Nunes would not say who provided the information to the House Intelligence Committee, which he chairs, he did say that the person or persons who provided the documentation did so “through the proper channels.”

“They had the right clearances,” he said.

President Trump has asked the House and Senate intelligence committees to look into his allegations concerning Trump Tower being wiretapped and surveilled.  His administration delivered documents to the House Intelligence Committee a little over a week ago.

The question I have in all of this is, are we going to be going through more WWE with this and future issues?  Are we going to get caught up in investigation after investigation like we did with Barack Hussein Obama Soetoro Sobarkah and the IRS scandal, Fast and Furious, Extortion 17, Benghazi and a host of other thing and there be no resolve?  Or are we going to finally see some justice brought on the criminals in the Obama administration, including Obama himself?
