You reap what you sow!

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the spirit shall of the spirit reap life everlasting.” Galatians 6:7-8

Sowing and reaping: I am going to share with you some analogies and parables on this topic.

When someone decides to plant the seed of drinking alcohol into their life, what do they reap? In a lot of cases, death. They sow drinking and they reap death (Romans 6:23).

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

What I mean by planting seeds is this: Your life is a field. Everything you do in life, you are planting seeds into your field. So, let us choose carefully what we sow, so we can reap a good harvest and not a bad one.

Satan is a liar. He tries to deceive people into thinking that you can act how you want for most of your life; and then, when you are old, you will have plenty of time to turn to God. By the way, you cannot blame Satan for the choices that you make. You make the choice to do the things that you do. Remember, in everything you do, you are sowing some kind of seed into your field.

My point is that everything you do is a choice for which you will reap the consequences, whether good or evil (Deuteronomy 30:19).

The Bible is constantly telling us to, “Be not deceived” (Galatians 6:7; Luke 23:34; Luke 21:8).

Look at Adam and Eve. They were tempted by the serpent and it was a choice that they made to give in (Read Genesis 3 for more details). We need to constantly be on the lookout so that we are not deceived.

Did you know that there are less car accidents in the winter because everyone is on the lookout and paying close attention to their driving? However, there are more accidents in the summer because people are not on their guard as much. In like manner, we need to constantly be watchful. If you sow to the wind, you are going reap the whirlwind (Hosea 8:7).

If you are wondering what sowing to the flesh and sowing to the spirit means, I’ll tell you. Sowing to the flesh means you focus on worldly things such as video games, cars, girlfriends, boyfriends, so on and so forth (Romans 6, Galatians 5). Sowing to the spirit means to focus on things such as reading the Bible, praying, so on and so forth.

If you sow good things, you are going to reap good things. Make the right choices and you will reap a harvest of righteousness and good fruit in your life!
