10,000 Pastors Willing to Die to Resist Anti-Christian Persecution – Will You Stand With Them?

Glenn Beck, “We have 10,000 pastors who are willing to die resisting anti-Christian persecution.”

American TV and radio personality, Glenn Beck, was speaking last week on his program to Religious Right activist Jim Garlow about a conference that is coming up next week in his California Church called, “What You Thought Was Coming… Is Here Now.” This is not your typical conference and prepares pastors and Christian leaders to boldly live out their faith, to courageously follow Christ in today’s challenging cultural landscape. The goal is to tackle the most difficult topics that many of America’s churches choose to avoid regarding to race, culture, economics, government, the persecution of Christians, and Islam to name just a few.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Beck commented that the conference is coming at the perfect time because society is on the verge of collapse, and America needs passionate pastors willing to give up their lives if necessary in the fight against the persecution of Christians. Dr. Garlow, along with David Barton, established an organization called the Black Robe Regiment several years back that has brought together a network of approximately 70,000 members and of those, at least 10,000 pastors who are willing to pay the ultimate price for their faith.

Many Americans do not realize that it was in the pulpit that the will to fight against British tyranny was first ignited. For those who may not know the story, here’s a little background on the Black Robe Regiment.

It was Sunday morning early in the year 1776. In the church where Pastor Muhlenberg preached, it was a regular service for his congregation but a quite different affair for Muhlenberg himself. Muhlenberg’s text for the day was Ecclesiastes 3 where it explains, “To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven; a time to be born, and a time to die, a time to plant, and a time to pluck what is planted…”

Coming to the end of his sermon, Peter Muhlenberg turned to his congregation and said, “In the language of the holy writ, there was a time for all things, a time to preach and a time to pray, but those times have passed away. As those assembled looked on, Pastor Muhlenberg declared, “There is a time to fight and that time is now coming!” Muhlenberg then proceeded to remove his robes revealing to the shock of his congregation, a military uniform.

Marching to the back of the church he declared, “Who among you is with me?” On that day 300 men from his church stood up and joined Peter Muhlenberg.

They eventually became the 8th Virginia Brigade fighting for liberty.

Frederick Muhlenberg, Peter’s brother, was against Peter’s level of involvement in the war. Peter responded to Frederick, writing, “I am a Clergyman it is true, but I am a member of the Society as well as the poorest Layman, and my liberty is as dear to me as any man, shall I then sit still and enjoy myself at Home when the best Blood of the Covenant is spilling?…So far am I from thinking that I act wrong, I am convinced it is my duty to do so and duly owe to God and my country.” Excerpt from blackrobereg.org

According to Glenn Beck, as quoted by Right Wing Watch:

The number in the Black Robe Regiment is about 70,000 now. The number I think that will walk through a wall of fire, you know, and possible death, is anywhere between 17,000 – 10,000. That is an extraordinary number of people that are willing to lay it all down on the table and willing to go to jail or to go to their death because they serve God and not man.

Garlow was in complete agreement, saying that the necessity of being willing to die is “honestly where we are.”

“We’ve come to the moment,” he said. “People like you and me and, thank God, many others are digging in and laying the benchmark of where we’re going to stand on these issues.”

“You are going to see these 10,000 to 20,000 pastors begin to stand up, ” Beck promised, “and say it doesn’t matter if I lose my church, it doesn’t matter if I lose my building, it doesn’t matter if I lose my life, I will not sit down!”

This is 10,000 to 20,000 men and women of God willing to risk everything to defend freedom in America. My sincere hope is that there will be thousands of others to stand with them.

If you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed, if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not costly, you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all odds against you and only a precarious chance for survival. There may be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no chance of victory because it is better to perish than live as slaves. – Winston Churchill

We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the last step into a thousand years of darkness.
– Ronald Reagan

The time will come for each of us, and I fear it is coming very soon. Who will you serve…God or man?
