5 Major Stories the Media Buried While Obsessing Over Kavanaugh Scandal

On every single mainstream news channel and every single mainstream news site, stories of Brett Kavanaugh’s accusations and mudslinging dominated. While Kavanaugh’s appointment is certainly newsworthy and deserving of coverage, the soap opera kangaroo court that is the mainstream media’s coverage on Kavanaugh is anything but helpful.

Instead, the rampant divide and controversy stirred up by the FOXSMSNBCNN coverage of the Kavanaugh appointment worked perfectly to distract Americans from actual issues that affect them, up to and including the real reasons for opposing Kavanaugh.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

The Free Thought Project has compiled a list of five major stories Americans missed while the media shoved the Kavanaugh controversy down their throats.

1. The Kavanaugh sex scandal is serving as a distraction from the already-proven reason he should not be on the Supreme Court.

While the sex allegations certainly deserve to be investigated, the media on all sides is remaining entirely silent on the reasons that already make Kavanaugh a threat to American freedom.

Brett Kavanaugh has received near-round-the-clock coverage over the last week. However, absent from that coverage was the fact that this man is an enemy to the Fourth Amendment and his track record shows that he’s more than willing to turn America into a police state.

Kavanaugh is on record supporting warrantless searches and increased deep state surveillance of innocent Americans. Kavanaugh not only thinks there it is okay for the police state to trespass on your property and track your every move with no warrant and despite having evidence of a crime, but he advocates for it.

The very NSA program Donald Trump opposed that was allegedly used to spy on him during the campaign is the very NSA program for which Kavanaugh is a champion. He’s also a heavy proponent of endless war and thinks military contractors should be free from any type of persecution while under contract with the US.

2. Despite states continuing to legalize cannabis, cops are kidnapping and caging more people than ever for possessing this plant.

According to a recent article in Forbesthe FBI attempted to hide the fact marijuana arrests are on the rise by not publishing the arrests by drug in its annual data. Law reform proponent Tom Angell stated he was able to obtain internal FBI data which shows not only have marijuana arrests gone up but someone is arrested for marijuana once every 48 seconds.

Angell writes:

The increase in marijuana arrests—659,700 in 2017, compared to 653,249 in 2016—is driven by enforcement against people merely possessing the drug as opposed to selling or growing it, the data shows.

In the meantime, as arrests for a plant shoot up, murders, rapes, and violent crimes go unsolved at startling rates. According to VOX’s analysis of the FBI’s latest crime statistics, about 40 percent of the murders, which happen in the U.S., never get solved. Sixty-six percent of the rapes which take place never lead to an arrest. And nearly half of all aggravated assaults do not lead to an arrest.

Arresting a harmless individual for possessing a plant is far easier, profitable, and safer for cops than actually investigating crimes that actually hurt people. This shows that despite the major paradigm shift in states legalizing, the police state is still very addicted to the profit stream derived from kidnapping and caging people over this plant.

3. A Congressman exposed how the US government is preying on legitimate fears of human traffic to warrantlessly spy on innocent US citizens.

The Empowering Financial Institutions to Fight Human Trafficking Act of 2018, H.R. 6729, states that its purpose is “to allow nonprofit organizations to register with the Secretary of the Treasury and share information on activities that may involve human trafficking or money laundering with financial institutions and regulatory authorities, under a safe harbor that offers protections from liability.”

However, while the goal of the bill claims to be to help institutions and authorities “better identify and report potential human trafficking or money laundering activities,” Michigan Rep. Justin Amash took to Twitter to argue that the legislation actually has a much more sinister objective.

Amash said he believes H.R. 6729 is “a disguised effort to expand the Patriot ActGOP leaders put ‘Fight Human Trafficking’ in the title to conceal the bill’s true purpose: to give the government more power to unconstitutionally spy on law-abiding Americans without a warrant.

4. A recent mass shooting was swept under the rug because it simply didn’t fit the establishment narrative

Last week, Snochia Moseley, 26, walked into her place of employment at the Rite Aid warehouse in Maryland and began indiscriminately killing people. But coverage quickly faded and some even became defensive of the shooter after the details of her life were revealed.

Because Moseley was a black transgender woman who was so outside of the typical description of a mass shooter — who are usually young white men — one would’ve thought that her case would’ve seen even more scrutiny and reporting in the media. But this was clearly not the case. In fact, because most every article TFTP found on the subject contained the description of Moseley not being a “monster,” it is almost as if the media defended her as not to cross the politically correct police.

Her legally purchased handgun also made it difficult for the gun grabbers to demonize AR-15s and push for more gun laws as gun laws in Maryland are some of the strictest in the country.

Because this shooting failed to provide any benefit to pushing the police state, the establishment simply swept it under the rug and moved on.

5. Reddit begins “Quarantining” users who question 9/11 and redirecting them to the government website instead.

On Thursday, visitors to the popular subreddit r/911truth got an ominous wake up call when they were met with a checkpoint screen that warned them about proceeding further. The Reddit Administrators claimed that the subreddit posts misinformation and then directed people seeking information on 9/11 to the official government website.

The idea of directing users away from free-form discussion and to the official 9/11 commission website was as ironic as it was ominous. The 9/11 commission itself was outspoken about how they were railroaded at every turn and have spoken out about the holes in their own investigation.

What’s more, FBI agents have come forward claiming they were railroaded by the CIA when they had information that the attack was going to take place—claiming it was preventable. Thousands of architects and engineers have come forward challenging the government’s account of why the three building collapsed that day. And, the US government admitted to covering up Saudi Arabia’s role in 9/11. These and many other reasons are why subreddits like r/9/11truth exist and are necessary. Now, however, this information is suppressed and the tainted government version of “truth” rammed down our throat.

Sadly, these issues and many others failed to get much coverage in the regular media, so Americans remain oblivious as the Kavanaugh soap opera steals the show.
