Vermont Sued By Christian School For Discrimination Over Biblical Sexual Ethics

Well, I am glad to see the Church not taking it sitting down, but rather bringing the fight to the enemy.  One Christian school in Vermont is doing just that.  They are bringing a lawsuit against the state over discrimination due to their biblical beliefs regarding sexual ethics and gender.

Ben Zeisloft reports:

Christian educators filed a lawsuit against the state of Vermont for allegedly barring students from public tuition programs due to their beliefs about biblical sexual ethics.

Mid Vermont Christian School, which believes that “a complete education is one that acknowledges Jesus as the center of all learning,” said in the lawsuit that the state government has not recognized the entity as an “approved independent school” because of their beliefs on the immutable nature of sex. The lack of state approval thereby disallows students from accessing voucher funds and dual enrollment programs with nearby colleges.

“The state of Vermont has adopted its own orthodoxy on human sexuality and gender. Simply put, the state believes sex is mutable and biological differences do not matter,” the lawsuit said. “It is not entitled, nor is it constitutional, to force private, religious schools across the state to follow that orthodoxy as a condition to participating in Vermont’s tuitioning program.”

Entities requesting approval as an independent school must post a “statement of nondiscrimination” on their website and in admissions materials concurring with the Vermont Public Accommodations Act and the Vermont Fair Employment Practices Act, both of which recognize “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” as protected statuses.

Mid Vermont Christian School said in the lawsuit that they believe biblical and historic Christian doctrine which states that “God uniquely creates each person as either a male or female, one’s sex is determined at creation and based on biology, and that sex is immutable.”

Vermont officials have also removed Mid Vermont Christian School from the state athletic association because the entity “operates its own athletic program consistent with its religious beliefs about sexuality and gender,” specifically by means of rejecting state rules on letting students compete against members of the opposite sex due to their purported “gender identity.”

The actions come one year after the Supreme Court ruled against Maine for blocking access to public education programs over religious beliefs. “The state pays tuition for certain students at private schools so long as the schools are not religious. That is discrimination against religion,” Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in a majority opinion. “A state’s antiestablishment interest does not justify enactments that exclude some members of the community from an otherwise generally available public benefit because of their religious exercise.”

The state has zero business meddling in education and even more so trying to discriminate over education that has a biblical foundation.  Yet, criminals are gonna commit crimes and the state of Vermont is now being called out for its crimes against the People!
