Happy Ishtar-Easter: What Is Easter Truly About? Not Bunnies Laying Eggs…

Rabbits are linked to fertility; thus, the springtime eggs are a symbol of rebirth in Pagan cultures. Colored eggs link back to the Pagan Druids. Dyeing eggs for ritual purposes links back to Egypt, fertility rites.

The meaning of Easter has nothing to do with what it is that they have been selling you….

The day of Easter is the day of resurrection. It is the day of God’s victory over death. The resurrection symbolizes and confirms, as does it vindicate, the eternal life given to all who believe in Him (Matthew 28:6).

The meaning of Easter also symbolizes the complete verification of all that Jesus preached and taught. If He had not risen from the dead, He would have been just another teacher or prophet. However, His resurrection gave the final and irrefutable proof that He was the Son of God.

The feast day of Easter was originally a pagan celebration of renewal and rebirth. Celebrated in the early spring, it honored the pagan Saxon goddess Eastre-Ishtar. When the early missionaries converted the Saxons to Christianity, the holiday, since it fell around the same time as the traditional memorial of Christ’s resurrection from the dead, was merged with the pagan celebration and became known as Easter. The meaning of Easter was also changed to reflect its new deluded Christian orientation.

That being the case, why are professed Christians still celebrating Easter with a pagan twist?

Furthermore, what does the Easter Bunny and eggs have to do with Christ’s suffering, death, and resurrection? Nothing at all! It’s time for professors to quit following the world’s traditions and get biblically educated (John 7:17) and stick to the pure and true meaning without sending a mixed message of confusion to our children.

“He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.” -Matthew 28:6
