Did You Know These Things About Thomas Jefferson?

Thomas Jefferson was the third president of the United States of America. He was born in 1743 and died in 1826.  Jefferson was the main author of the Declaration of Independence.

Now, let me tell you something interesting.

Did you know that Mr. Jefferson asked himself questions wherever he went and carried a notebook with him to answer his questions?

He began to think about how much easier it would be to take notes if he had a desk he could carry with him wherever he went.  So, he began to carry a box and it would open up into a desk, a traveling desk.

Jefferson could not go to the first Continental Congress when the men from his colony were chosen because he was ill.

He did attend the 2nd Continental Congress though to represent the colony of Virginia.

The men kept talking and talking, but Jefferson was a quiet man.  He liked to learn by listening.

While meeting in Philadelphia, Jefferson, along with others, wrote the Declaration of Independence.

The Bible says in Psalm 33:12, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord…” and America was established as a Christian nation.

It was read July 4, 1776 (The birthday of America), but it was originally written on July 2, 1776.

Jefferson was a good writer and a man who used his talent.

Did you also know that he was the architect of his own home in Virginia?

That’s pretty cool too! Talk to you soon.
