“A republic, if you can keep it.”-Benjamin Franklin
As the story was told and retold on the House floor, Franklin was walking out of Independence Hall after the Constitutional Convention in 1787, when someone shouted out, “Doctor, what have we got? A republic or a monarchy?”
To which Franklin supposedly responded, with a rejoinder at once witty and ominous:
“A republic, if you can keep it.”
My goodness gracious friends look at what has been given unto us at such a high cost. A Republic (Article 4 section 4 US Constitution).
An empire of Laws (Gods Laws) and not men (Exodus 20).
Not an Unconstitutional 2 party system mind you, but a constitutional Republic to unite us under God not to be divided in being conquered (Mark 3:25).
And if the people, out of gratitude for the price paid for their freedoms (2 Corinthians 5;15) will be the strength of the Constitution,
“The strength of the Constitution, lies in the will of the people to defend it.”-Thomas Edison
We will without a doubt remain a free people (Proverbs 7:2), and if not, America will be cursed.
Speaking of the price,
The Declaration of Independence states that “And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.”
In particular, the second President of the United States John Adams said “You will never know, how much it cost the present Generation, to preserve your Freedom! I hope you will make a good Use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in Heaven, that I ever took half the Pains to preserve it.”
Now, according to that of Benjamin Franklin (The Word of God affirming his statement (Deuteronomy 28:15-68) America is losing big time to uphold that which has been given (Isaiah 42:21, 59 etc.), and it is for every America to now explain as to why to our forefathers.
