On Monday, I reported that Amazon Echo stores all your voice data you send to it and that it can be accessed by police. Now, a short video has emerged in which Amazon Echo‘s Alexa suggests hard core porn to a small toddler.

Take a listen as this small boy says, “Alexa, play tickle tickle.” WARNING: Language

There is no reason that this should be coming out of a home device like this, especially when you know the potential for young children to be in the home.

Yet, our children are being subjected to this stuff all the time.

With respect to the parents, I assume they never thought in a million years something like this would be said to their little boy from an Amazon Echo Dot.

Echo Dot is a hands-free, voice-controlled device with a small built-in speaker. It can also connect to your speakers or headphones over Bluetooth or through a 3.5 mm audio cable to deliver stereo sound to the speakers you choose. The device connects to the Alexa Voice Service to play music, provide information, news, sports scores, weather, and more instantly.

This device can hear you from across the room, even while music is playing. When you want to use Echo Dot, just say the wake word “Alexa” and Dot responds instantly. If you have more than one Echo or Echo Dot, Alexa responds intelligently from the Echo you’re closest to with ESP (Echo Spatial Perception).

Of course, music is the primary function of the Echo, but it also acts as an alarm clock, locates restaurants in your area, notifies you of calendar events, informs you of weather and other useful things. It can also be used to operate various devices in the house such as a fan, thermostat, coffeemaker or lights.

In all the searches I did, I could not find where there are any parental controls for the device. So, I decided to call Amazon concerning the matter.

I was told by the representative there that the only parental control currently is a four digit PIN number. However, the representative also informed me they had received many complaints about not having such a feature and were working on developing parental controls for future models.
