America never ceases to amaze me.  The wickedness and corruption that flows through our nation is baffling.  With each new sunrise and sunset from day to day, 3,700 babies are slaughtered by their own mothers in the womb.  Fornication, adultery, drunkenness, lasciviousness, homosexuality, and idolatry are all commonplace and there seems to be no end to the various evils that we see from day to day in this nation.

Is this the same America from the 1950s or 60s?  Ask your grandparents and they would tell you no.

So what happened?  Why did things change? What made a once God-fearing nation turn into a God-hating nation? Could it be the removal of the 10 Commandments from our schools in 1962 when the Supreme Court declared that prayer in school was unconstitutional?  Or was it in 1963 when the Warren Court stopped schools from allowing Bible reading in classes? Or maybe in was in 1973 when the Supreme Court declared that it was okay for a mother to kill her own child. No, maybe things started going downhill during the “free love” or more like “free lust” hippie movement. Or perhaps it came in 1980 when the Supreme Court declared that posting the Ten Commandments in a school classroom violated the Constitution of the United States.

As one website on school prayer (www.schoolprayerinamerica.info) puts it:

“…While the early American schools taught the moral values from the Bible, with school prayer, today’s public school system prohibit teaching moral values from the Bible, or even allowing students to pray to a God that a majority of faiths in this country recognize.  The result is America has become a land with much looser morals then 4 decades ago, which is having a negative affect on all sectors of our society.  History shows us that when societies become corrupt they begin to come apart and crumble.”

Hosea 4:6 says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee…seeing thou hast forgotten the Law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.” And what are we seeing with our children today?

What has happened to us? Have we fallen so far that we don’t even recognize it? You see, compromise happens to people little by little. They allow so much to pass and then one day they wake up and they don’t even recognize themselves anymore. I don’t recognize this America. This is not the America that our Founding Fathers gave us.

In fact, our Founding Fathers would roll over in their graves if they knew what we have become. Shame on us for allowing compromise to rule. Shame on us for standing down in the face of immorality when we should be standing up. Shame on us for shutting up when we should be speaking out. Shame on you for doing nothing when you should be active in this fight to restore America! You have sinned against God in your silence against evil!

I heard a preacher once say something that Billy Graham’s wife once said and it is true, “If God doesn’t judge America, He is going to have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah.” He was absolutely correct!

America has dared the justice of God. It has wickedly given God the finger and the pulpits (For the most part) have remained silent. As Dietrich Bonhoeffer rightfully said, “Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.”

Before you get mad at those words, stop and take a moment to think of what we have become and what you have done to stop the corruption in this nation. Perhaps you have done nothing. Perhaps you have remained silent. Do you think God is pleased? My Bible tells me that “…God is angry with the wicked every day (Psalm 7:11).”

Where is the America that feared God? Where is the America that loved and served Him? I want her back. We could all call that America back through repentance (2 Chronicles 7:14). Then, and only then, will we see our nation restored.
