On Tuesday, Barack Obama was met with tepid applause and awkward silence as he gave his first speech to the American Legion convention since 2011. Veterans have had it with Barack Obama’s treatment of them, his arming our sworn enemies and his treasonous actions involving the Muslim Brotherhood and the release of Taliban commanders for one American deserter. They are sick of his failure to uphold the same law they so bravely served to defend, and on Tuesday it really showed.
While his speech was only 35 minutes long, it was filled with lines that were meant to provoke applause. At one point, the Daily Mail points out that he spoke for eight minutes without a single clap.
According to MailOnline:
A Virginia legionnaire who served in the U.S. Marine Corps told MailOnline that ‘a small group of Obama’s admirers – and there are some here – sat near the front and tried to generate applause for him about 10 times.’
‘They didn’t get much pickup,’ the retired lieutenant colonel said of the ‘instigators’ gathered at the Charlotte, North Carolina event, but ‘they were persistent. You could tell when the applause was genuine and when it wasn’t. It was obvious to everyone here.’
Most of the veterans sat on their hands, leaving awkward silences where White House speechwriters expected ovations.
‘Some of these guys – well, most of them – remember that Obama sent Biden to speak to us last year in Houston, and blew us off entirely during his 2012 campaign.’
While Obama did speak about using the United States power wisely, that is mere rhetoric to make us weaker, not because it is wise.
“History teaches us of the dangers of overreaching and spreading ourselves too thin, and trying to go it alone without international support, or rushing into military adventures without thinking through the consequences,” he said.
I agree, history does teach such a lesson, which makes one wonder why in the world his administration is now in a second pursuit to go to war in Syria. Furthermore, the Obama administration is attempting to pull an Orwellian 1984 and side with the Bashar al-Assad regime rather than the Syrian jihadists they have been training and providing weapons to for several years now.
“You know that we should never send America’s sons and daughters into harm’s way unless it is absolutely necessary and we have a plan and we are resourcing it and prepared to see it through,” Obama said.
Sadly, Obama’s plan has only been to destroy America, and he’s been doing a pretty good job of that. He cares not for our men and women in uniform. Just ask Billy and Karen Vaughn, parents of fallen Navy SEAL Aaron Vaughn from Extortion 17. Ask Charles Strange, father of another SEAL aboard Extortion 17. Ask the mother of slain information management officer Sean Smith whether he cares about them.
More empty rhetoric from Obama came out as he stated, “Sustaining our leadership, keeping America strong and secure, means we have to use our power wisely,” Obama said.
So pray tell Mr. Obama, in what ways exactly are we using US power wisely? We aren’t using it on the southern border. We aren’t using it in New Jersey where we are welcoming tens of thousands of Syrian Muslims, including jihadists, no doubt. We really aren’t doing anything about ISIS either. It seems the only power being demonstrated is in his golf swing and the infringing of Americans’ rights simply because they are his political opponents.
In fact, when he mentioned bringing home 140,000 troops from Iraq because “it was the right thing to do,” there was absolute silence.
Upon announcing that the mission in Afghanistan would be complete and come to a “responsible end,” applause was barely heard.
Even when he took time to utter the words to honor “every American who served to make this progress possible, every single one, especially the more than 2,200 American patriots who made the ultimate sacrifice in Afghanistan to keep us safe” there was silence.
He finally received a pitiful few seconds of clapping after saying he would partner with Afghanistan to keep the country from being one that could be used to launch attacks against America, which we know now that it was more Saudi Arabia than it was Afghanistan, but hey, we’re not going to do anything to the Saudis, right?
Obama gave tough talk about a response against those that harm Americans, but we all know that is just what that is, talk.
He finally got around to speaking about the VA. “The misconduct we’ve seen of too many facilities, with long wait times and veterans denied care, and folks cooking the books, is outrageous and inexcusable.”
He’s right. It is inexcusable, but who has been at the helm? Who promised to deal with this when they took office? That’s right, Barack Hussein Obama….mmm, mmm, mmm.
We’re focused on this at the highest levels. We are going to get to the bottom of these problems, we are going to fix what is wrong.’
“We are going to do right by you and we are going to do right by your families,” he said. “And that is a solemn pledge of commitment that I’m making to you here.”
Oh, a solemn pledge? Like the one he gave back in 2008 some seven times? That kind of solemn pledge? Veterans and Americans, if you believe Barack Obama about anything, especially this, then you are a fool and I don’t believe our veterans are fools.
Our veterans are dying on foreign soil and here at home and I believe at the heart of it all is the Obama administration. They have overseen the VA mess that has resulted in the deaths of possibly hundreds of our veterans and they are also responsible in some degree for the deaths of many of our fallen soldiers on the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan. The abuse of our military in the hands of the current administration has been incredible.
To top it off, Obama announced 19 new executive actions to deal with mental health issues and suicide prevention for veterans. “Veterans called for it, we heard you, which is why today I am announcing 19 new executive actions to help improve mental health care for those american heroes and their families,” Obama said.
Again, Obama doesn’t care for these veterans. As I’ve told people in the past, he’s going after your guns and mental health is the backdoor to gun confiscation, beginning with our veterans. It’s already started.
