Another Obamacare Employer Mandate Looms on January 1

The disasters keep piling up when it comes to the current federal government under the Obama administration. For the sake of time and sanity, there will be no recap on these disasters as every conservative American keeps the list close by. The latest and greatest happens to be a response, or lack thereof, to the Ebola virus landing in the United States – Dallas, Texas to be more exact.

There is another disaster looming on the horizon that will happen January 1, 2015. The delayed employer mandate of Obamacare is expected to take effect on that day meaning “as many as 30 million Americans could lose their employer-sponsored healthcare plans because those plans will not meet Obamacare requirements.” According to health policy expert, Betsy McCaughey, “Most people still get their health insurance through an employer. Thirty million people could lose their on-the-job coverage this year and be forced into one of these exchanges.”

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Appearing on Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee’s Fox News program, McCaughey stated, “The plans that employers bought in the small-group market are suddenly no longer eligible – and employers are going to be stuck with going to the very expensive Obamacare one-size-fits-all requirement or saying to their employees, ‘I’m sorry, you will have to get it somewhere else.'”

Newsmax.com reports:

Under Obamacare, many companies with fewer than 50 employees have insurance plans that are set to expire this year. Those plans were purchased before the healthcare law took effect – and employer mandates for such businesses were delayed by President Barack Obama until January 1, 2015.

However, as the plans expire, businesses will be required to provide plans that meet Obamacare’s requirements – making them more expensive – or they can drop coverage, forcing employees to obtain coverage on their own through the exchanges.

For employers with 50 to 99 workers, they must provide coverage or pay a fine of $2,000 per employee. The requirement was delayed to January 2016 – after an earlier delay in July 2013, which had pushed back the mandate to January 2015.

McCaughey told Huckabee that companies with 50 employees or less were more likely to drop coverage than pay a higher cost which means those Americans affected will get “a raw deal” at the end of the year when those policies expire.

By now, we all know the story of Obamacare – how no Republican voted for it; how Democrats passed it in the middle of the night; how no one read it; and, how Obama keeps unilaterally changing the law by “executive” fiat. We’ve heard of cancellation letters issued by the healthcare insurance companies informing individuals their plans do not meet requirements and will not be re-issued leaving those individuals without coverage. We’ve heard of the increased premiums, not being able to keep your doctor, narrowing networks for care, gaps in care for “specialty” services, and a host of other horror stories that have come about because of the government takeover of the healthcare insurance industry. Reports have also highlighted the rationing of healthcare services based on age and/or productivity and the “death panels.”

Interestingly, we have heard the left say those against Obamacare do not want people to have health care while the establishment Republicans say, “Obamacare doesn’t work and needs to be replaced.”

Supposedly, this monstrosity was “sold” to the American public as a way to provide health care insurance to only those individuals who were “uninsured.” The great orations by Obama and his ilk were filled with it being a “responsibility” to make sure that the 20 – 30 million Americans who did not have health care insurance be provided health care insurance, while assuring those with health insurance they will be able to keep their plans. However, this unconstitutional law has ended up affecting everyone whether insured or not.

This entire “scheme” was meant to destroy the middle class, the health care insurance industry and the health care system in this country under the guise of helping a minority of individuals who did not have health care insurance for whatever reason while eradicating “freedom of choice.” Some individuals did not use traditional health insurance plans but instead a sort of self -insured program whereby a set monthly amount was paid to a medical group for services. Others may have used Christian ministry medical plans. Still others who are healthy chose not to participate in programs at all.

Even if Republicans retake the Senate, their plan is not to repeal Obamacare and the States have no interest in nullifying this atrocity. The Republicans would “replace” Obamacare with their version of some form of “health care” scheme whether it be insurance or a system to provide care. Face it, both parties had some form of “national” health care insurance or health care system in mind; the Democrats just happen to “sneak” it across the finish line first. The States have been bought and paid for with federal funding so refuse to bite the hand that feeds it meaning perpetuation of an unconstitutional federal law regarding insurance or health care despite controlling party.

More Americans are facing the realization their health plans may be canceled and they may not have the ability to afford the Obamacare plans. Some will say this is not true because of “subsidies;” however, there is some controversy surrounding subsidies, how they are applied, who receives them, how much is awarded and through what exchange one must go through to qualify – to name a few issues. There are those who will not qualify for subsidies and will be unable to afford even the most low cost plan. Failure to comply with the mandate for healthcare insurance results in a hefty penalty, tax or fine administered by the Internal Revenue Service that will increase yearly. Most do not want to face the fact that subsidies will be funded by every tax paying individual one way or another, whether you participate in an employer healthcare plan, Obamacare plan or no plan.

So, where does all this leave Americans? It leaves us in a pile of trouble with Ebola on our shores and illegal aliens pouring into the country with untold contagious and infectious diseases. Think about that for a moment.

For the “sake of a few,” Americans were sold into bondage by the federal government “mandating” free individuals to purchase a service whereby the federal government decided and “chose” what was best for everyone. Under direction of the Democratic party, and with the stamp of approval from the States and “rhetorical” opposition from Republicans, this is what happened in America.

Since that time, Obama has been allowed to “change” the law unimpeded, unbridled and without as much as a peep of genuine opposition. Interesting all the mandates for employers come after the 2014 midterm elections and before the 2016 presidential election.

We’ve heard the touting of the 8 million Americans who have enrolled in Obamacare. The shouts of cheer abounded as this monstrosity supposedly reached the number of people required to make it sustainable. But, what happened to the other 12 to 22 million Americans this “law” was supposed to help? What about those individuals who lost coverage and have been unable to afford the rates of Obamacare plans? How many of those supposed 8 million have actually paid premiums, continued the coverage or stopped coverage? The uninsured 20 – 30 million US individuals were used by the federal government to affect change on the other 300 million. And, the change was not to have every individual covered by health care insurance.

With this administration, one disaster follows another in almost rapid-fire succession. No one disaster is ever dealt with in its entirety. It is foisted about with rhetorical opposition for a while only to be replaced by another, then another, while inaction is the veritable outcome. After a while, these disasters are “revisited” as some other aspect is unveiled, revealed or implemented by edict. In the case of Obamacare, the impact on employers and employees was delayed by “edict” for strategic reasons; however, the disaster that is Obamacare has been met with inaction on the part of the Congress and States despite its unconstitutionality and the evidence this “law” is unsustainable. In looking at the situation with this “government” health care insurance scheme, Americans are stuck with it.

If there is one thing that can be said about this administration, it is that they spit into the wind and complain of rain when it is blown back on them, never once owning the rain is a result of their spit. If that doesn’t work, they proclaim there is nothing to worry about, since they have it under control or blame someone else while sticking it to the American public and hollering “Fore!” Unfortunately, this doesn’t look like it will change anytime soon.
