For the second time in recent weeks, Portland protest leader Micah Isaiah Rhodes stood before an Oregon judge ready to go to prison for having sexual contact with an underage teen.
And for the second time, an Oregon judge agreed to veer from state sentencing recommendations and give Rhodes five years of probation.
Multnomah County Circuit Judge Jerry Hodson on Monday said he wouldnt send Rhodes to prison for two to 2 12 years because he believes Rhodes earnestly is trying to change despite the prosecution’s arguments to the contrary.
Considering Rhodes’ record, who could possibly doubt that?
In March, Rhodes pleaded guilty to two counts of felony second-degree sexual abuse for at least twice having sexual contact with a 17-year-old boy. Investigators say Rhodes met the boy on a gay dating app, and the contact happened in Gresham and Troutdale.
Days earlier, a Washington County jury had found Rhodes guilty of second-degree sexual abuse of a 17-year-old girl. A defense memo said the contact happened after the girl went to watch a movie with Rhodes at his mother’s house.
But the earlier record is a good deal worse.
Park said Rhodes as a teenager had been convicted in the youth court system of first-degree sodomy and sexual abuse. When Rhodes was about 14, he sexually abused a 9-year-old boy and when he was 15, he sexually abused three boys, Park said.
Rhodes also has a concerning track record of ignoring rules by repeatedly sexually acting out with his peers when he was told not to and later having contact with minors when he was forbidden from doing so by his probation, the prosecutor said.
But the same people who were recently pretending to cry on television for illegal alien minors, don’t care about American children. Comrades don’t rat on comrades.
Rhodes, now 24, was a leader of the protest group Portlands Resistance, which rose to prominence after Donald Trump won the presidential election in November 2016. The group helped organize day after day of marches and rallies against Trump.
But don’t get the idea that Judge Jerry Hodson is incapable of sending people to jail. He is. Just not #Resistance heroes.
A judge on Wednesday sentenced a Southeast Portland woman to 45 days in jail for hitting a neighbor on the head with a beer bottle during a confrontation that began when she yelled the n-word at the neighbor’s children.
Multnomah County Circuit Judge Jerry Hodson told Brenda Mae Glenn, 54, that he hopes she realizes that the slurs and her violent behavior could have a lasting impact on her victims. He said that’s especially the case for the children, ages 4 and 11.
Glenn and the other family lived in the same apartment complex.
“They welcomed you into the community,” Hodson said. “You treated them in a disrespectful (way) and one of the lowest ways possible. … There’s no place for that sort of conduct in our society.”
Unlike abusing underage minors. There’s always a place for that when practiced by #Resistance heroes.
One nation. Two sets of laws. One for the left. Another for everyone else.
