Armored Blackhawks Converge on Mexican Border Following Attack on US Chopper

On Saturday, we reported that a Border Patrol chopper took fire from the Mexican side of the border while still in US airspace. The shots forced the chopper to land without any injury or loss of life. Today, it is being reported that two UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters are being sent by Customs and Border Protection to continue surveillance in the area where the chopper was shot at by Mexican drug traffickers.

According to KGNS:

Just days after a Customs and Border Protection helicopter took fire along the border in Laredo, two Blackhawk helicopters are being deployed to South Texas.

The two aircraft will be used by C.B.P. agents and will offer them better protection as they patrol the U.S. Mexico border.

The Blackhawks are expected to arrive in Laredo by Friday.

They will patrol the border from Laredo down to the Rio Grande Valley.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

US Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) said that these helicopters would be armored Blackhawks.  “The Black Hawk is armored against small-arms fire of the sort used in the recent incident, carries a larger crew than the EC120 helicopter currently used in the area, and is well-suited for operating in a higher-threat environment,” Cuellar told the Laredo Morning Times. “I don’t want our men and women of CBP to be at any risk.”

According to an FBI statement, an alleged bulletproof vest kept one of the rounds from hitting the pilot. Apparently not wearing the vest is what saved his life.

An official statement by Cuellar on his website reads:

CBP plans to send two UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters to south Texas in the wake of last Friday’s helicopter shooting incident. The Blackhawk is armored against small arms fire of the sort used in the recent incident, carries a larger crew than the EC120 helicopter currently used in the area, and is well suited for operating in a higher threat environment. The move is expected to occur this week; CBP continuously reviews the conditions of the border environment and deploys its resources accordingly.

Keep in mind that all of this is occurring just as Jade Helm 15 operations begin in Texas and other parts of the country. I think we are in for an eventful summer so keep yourselves alert and prepared.
