Arrested Democrat-Employed Muslim IT Spy Still Has Active Secret House Account Tied to Intelligence Staffer

Arrested Democrat-employed Muslim IT spy Imran Awan continues to have a secret House account that’s tied to an intelligence staffer even though he is supposed to be banned from the congressional network because he is being investigated for alleged security violations.

This information comes by way of Luke Rosiak of The Daily Caller News Foundation, who has been steadily keeping up with what is going on concerning the Muslim IT spy ring, whose services were used by multiple former and current Democrats in Congress.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Rosiak reports:

Imran Awan’s still-active email address is linked to the name of a House staffer who specializes in intelligence and homeland security matters for Indiana Democratic Rep. André Carson. Court documents and emails obtained by TheDCNF show Awan used the address 123@mail.house.gov in addition to his standard imran.awan@mail.house.gov account.

He and two of his Pakistani-born brothers, as well as his wife, are at the center of an FBI investigation over their IT work with dozens of Democratic congressional offices. Authorities shut down Awan’s standard email account Feb. 2, and he was arrested by the FBI at Dulles International Airport trying to board a flight to his native Pakistan on July 25.

Authorities apparently did not realize Awan has a second account that is not linked to his identity. While his main email address began rejecting mail after it was shut down, the 123 address was still accepting mail Tuesday.

Mail sent via Gmail fills in the name of the account-holder of 123 as Nathan Bennett, whose LinkedIn profile says his individual legislative portfolio covers “national security and foreign affairs” and includes work on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

The member Bennett works for, Carson, is a member of both the House Intelligence and House Homeland Security Committees, and previously employed Awan.

Carson is ranking member of the House intelligence subcommittee on emerging threats, which oversees the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. The subcommittee oversight extends to the National Counterterrorism Center and information-sharing programs.

Bennett claims that it isn’t his fault that Awan continues to have access via the email.

“However this happened, it was not with my consent or control,” he said in an email to the DCNF. “For the record, I do not, nor have I ever, had control of the 123@mail.house.gov email account or any other account connected with Imran Awan or his family.”

Carson is one of at least 23 current and former Democrats in Congress who employed the services of Awan and his family.  Among those are:

  1. Andre Carson
  2. Luis Gutierrez
  3. Jim Himes
  4. Terri Sewell
  5. Jackie Speier
  6. Mike Quigley
  7. Eric Swalwell
  8. Patrick Murphy
  9. Debbie Wasserman Schultz
  10. Joaquini Castro
  11. Lois Frankel
  12. Ted Lieu
  13. Robin Kelly
  14. Tammy Duckworth
  15. Mark Takano
  16. John Sarbanes
  17. Diana DeGette
  18. Cedric Richmond
  19. Charlie Crist
  20. Jacky Rosen
  21. Sandy Levin
  22. Karen Bass
  23. Marcia Fudge

Awan has worked for Carson since 2015.  Carson failed to fire Awan when he came under investigation in September 2016 and later failed to terminate his services after he was banned from the House network by the Sergeant-At-Arms in February 2017.

Regarding the questionable email address used, up until 2016, each individual office assigned the emails.  At that time, House Information Resources Office (HIR) began assigning them.

Carson’s office doesn’t seem concerned that the account is still active, even though Awan has been indicted, and court records indicate that Awan is the owner of the email address.

Awan has also been indicted in an alleged mortgage fraud scheme.  Rosiak discovered that the same email address was used for the tenants he rented to to contact him.

After TheDCNF contacted tenants of a single-family home involved in an alleged mortgage fraud for which Awan has been indicted, a past renter, Laurel Everly, provided TheDCNF with email correspondence with Awan at the 123 address.

Everly described Imran Awan as a highly aggressive landlord who threatened to sue her if she didn’t pay for damage to the basement caused by natural flooding and a broken sump pump. She claimed he broke an air conditioner by installing a part incorrectly and then demanded that she buy him a new one. She also said he “charged me $350 for not gardening.”

“He’s a really bad guy, he laid the pressure on so heavily,” she told TheDCNF. “He absolutely is capable of trying to extort money. … He presents himself well — a clean-cut articulate man — but when he turns snake, I can’t think for a minute that he didn’t turn dishonest in his work [in Congress].”

While others like former DNC chair and Florida Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz admitted to numerous security violations over the years, which then led to an investigation into her information technology (IT), she did not take any steps to separate Awan out from having access to the House network when warned  of the threat earlier this year.  In fact, she didn’t fire him till after his arrest and it appears she planned to pay him once he was in Pakistan and throughout the duration of his time there.

Carson’s office’s response to the continued active email account is even more troublesome when you consider that this is a man tied to the Muslim Brotherhood.

As Daniel Greenfield previously pointed out:

The Emerging Threats Subcommittee, of which Carson is a ranking member, is responsible for much of counterterrorism oversight. It is the worst possible place for a man with Carson’s credentials.

Carson had inherited his grandmother’s seat and exploited it to promote a radical Islamist agenda. He has interfaced with a laundry list of Islamist groups from CAIR to ISNA to ICNA to MPAC. Islamists have funded Carson’s career to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars. The Center for Security Policy has put together a dossier of Carson’s connections to the Muslim Brotherhood. The Brotherhood is the parent organization of many key Islamic terror groups posing a threat to our national security including Al Qaeda and Hamas.

Andre Carson shared the stage at a CAIR banquet with Sirraj Wahaj: an unindicted co-conspirator in the World Trade Center bombing who had once declared,” You don’t get involved in politics because it’s the American thing to do. You get involved in politics because politics are a weapon to use in the cause of Islam.” CAIR itself had been named an unindicted co-conspirator in terror finance.

Carson had praised Tariq Ramadan who had been barred from this country for funding Islamic terrorists.  And the Muslim politician was a co-sponsor of the Free Syria Act which attempted to aid Islamist Jihadists in Syria linked to the Muslim Brotherhood such as the Free Syrian Army.

The presence of Andre Carson on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and the Emerging Threats Subcommittee has always been extremely controversial. But this latest breach involving Democrats on this committee and on other key national security committees raises serious questions about the scale and magnitude of the real problem caused by a compromised congress.

While Carson and other HPSCI Democrats had been demanding security clearance for their staffers, three Pakistani Muslims working for them appear to have compromised security to an unknown degree.

Why were the Awan brothers, one of whom had a criminal record, even allowed to work in such a sensitive position? How did the personnel suspected in this case pass background checks? And was any classified information compromised as a result of these alleged breaches?

Carson is an unabashed Islamist who has called for American schools to “be modeled after madrassas and use the Koran.”

No matter how much Democrats and the news media wants to run away from the story and whitewash it, it’s not going to go away.

This story is not like the Russian collusion fabrication with no evidence.

The evidence abounds and the threat to national security is great because Democrats simply did not care to know who they were dealing with… or perhaps, in a worst case scenario, they knew exactly who they were dealing with.
